Is there anyone out there planning to run the Philadelphia Distance Run (1/2 marathon) on Sunday, 9/16/07??

This will actually be my first organized race/run so it will be exciting. Besides that the course is a very scenic one along the Schuylkill River.

I would have loved to have run the Rock n Roll 1/2 marathon in VA Beach on 9/2 but I'll be in WDW that week.

Race info for Philly can be found here: http://www.runphilly.com/

PDR is a great race! It was my first ever race 3 years ago and set the bar high for following events I've run. DH and I will be there with our training group. Take a look at the race calender...I think there a few other WISHers participating.

Nice to meet another runner from South Jersey on Disboards. Maybe I'll see you at PDR. Are you planning to run the Philly marathon in November?

I ran both the VA beach 1/2 and the Philly Distance Run last year. I loved the Philly race.....the weather was cool, the course flat and I PR'ed! VA Beach is nice, but the heat was too much for me!:cool2:

You'll have a blast!

I'd love to do the Philly marathon, but it doesn't fit in with my Goofy training. I think I may do the companion half or the 8K though.

My husband is planning on racing this one. My two older kids will race the one mile kid fun run. Gotta sign him up right away. We need to find a hotel too Saturday night.

Husband is looking forward to this one.

Well, since the Eagles don't play on the 16th, Maybe I'll come out and be a one-person scream team for the PDR Wishers!

I think you can still find some good deals on hotels if you go to http://www.gophila.com/C/Special_Offers/381/U/Philly_Overnightreg_Hotel_Package/1678.html. For a while they had a 2 for 1 offer at certain hotels. The King Tut exhibit will be there until 9/30 so there are plenty of things to do if you stay in town.

I will be there providing some course support for a group of runners and walkers. I love this course, but am not nearly trained to do a half. I'm just planning on a nice slow stroll for ToT, then January...well, that is so far away, why think about that right now?? :hourglass

Will you be wearing a WISH shirt or some other identifiable singlet??

If you don't want to actually sign up for an event, Kelly Drive is still a nice place to go do an LSD training on marathon day. I've done this several times (and taken a few minutes to cheer for runners) The path is not very crowded like on other weekend days, because traffic is blocked off and cars can't get down there to park. Plus, with all the marathoners, there is lots of energy in the air that you can draft off of.

Good question...I'm not sure what I will be wearing yet. I guess I should look into a WISH shirt. I'll figure something out between now. It would be nice to meet up with the other WISHers that will be there so I'm thinking the WISH shirt is the way to go.

I am so bummed not to be able to do this event. It would have been perfect! It is DS14's Confirmation day, though, so I will just have to settle for being with all the WISHers in spirit.

I am a definite maybe!
This was the first half for my DW & me. Philadelphia was BEAUTIFUL!
