Philadelphia Cheese Steak location

I'm planning a day trip to Philadelphia this summer and wanted to go to the famous cheese steak shop that has been talked about on TV and was in the Rocky movie I think...supposedly there's a marker in the concrete or something from the movie...? I'm not sure, but I wanted to take the kids to it...anyone know what it's called?

And in Philly there is alot of disagreement about which is better. Some folks like Pat's some Geno's.

I grew up down around Philly and I have to say, I miss the cheese steaks more than anything else! I hope you enjoy it, and have an extra for me when you're there!

Pats and Genos are both good and yes they are across the street from each other. They are on 9th St., the Italian Market. Genos does have celebrity pictures hanging on the walls so that might be the one you want. You can get good cheesesteaks everywhere in South Philly. Pats, Genos and Tony Lukes are all delish.

goofygirl: it's funny that you would mention tastycakes and hoagies...my husband's family is all from just outside Philly and when I met him I was introduced to all this stuff and I must say nothing beats a good cheese steak or hoagie! There's also some special kind of summer sausage cold meat that I forget what they call it...geez that's gonna bug me until my husband gets home and I ask him what it's called...I got it! Lebenan??? Something like that anyway...
