I surprised our kids with a 4 day cruise on the Wonder. We went in March. The preceding Christmas they each had an ID holder in their stocking with a picture of the Wonder and the dates we were sailing on it. They loved it. You could do something similar at Easter or an anniversary or the 4th of July or any date between now and then that is special for your family.
Oh, I love reading all these wonderful ideas! I am now more excited than ever for this trip!

I agree. My gut reaction was a scavenger hunt. But not too easy. One that may take days or even a week or two. Maybe by using email, notes around the house, maybe even in their home. As they find the different pieces and put it together, it will reveal where they are going. Not only do they have to search for letters, but make it a little work, but fun work.

Maybe even by using phrases.

You guys are so goofy. :goofy:
Don't you feel like you need a minnie vacation? ::MinnieMo
A picture of a duck. :donald:
Did you see that? Oh, pooh! pooh:
Thanks for the reply! I, too, first thought of a scavenger hunt. Yet I was quickly overwhelmed! Yet I do love the idea! Definitley on the top of my list right now!

If the scavenger hunt sounds too overwhelming, how about a game of charades or pictionary? You and your daughter or son could team up and actually play the game for real for a couple of rounds and then maybe on the third round when you get up instead of doing the charade or pictionary item you have chosen you could act out or draw the trip to Disney, your daughter or son (whomever is on your team, would then guess the surprise!) - I think that would be pretty funny and fairly easy and very inexpensive to do!

My co-worker was surprised with a gift basket sent to her home by her sister who was sending the whole family on a cruise. In the basket were suntan lotion, a guidebook for the are they were going in, sunglasses, etc.

You could do the same for your trip. You could make it with all sorts of stuff like your itinerary, mickey t-shirt or antenna topper, an autograph book, disposable camera and a Mickey balloon!! ::MickeyMo

Good luck and I'm sure no matter how you tell them they will feel blessed! :grouphug:

Another wonderful idea, Weluvdisny! Thank you!! :bounce:

How about a game of hangman on a big piece of poster board. The answer to the puzzle is " We are all going to Disney World together on August__".

Videotape them as they figure it out! :cool1:

My father did this once to us...

After booking a vacation for the whole family, he decided to have a game night - everyone playing monopoloy.

He got a pair of loaded dice and after the first couple of sevens were rolled he said something like "If the next roll is another seven, I am going to shave my beard." It did and he did.

When he got back, he said, "If the next roll is another seven, I am going to take everyone for ice cream." It did and we did.

Finally, when we got back he did it one final time saying" If the next roll is another gosh-darn seven, we are taking everyone in this room on an all expense trip paid to Disney." When my youngest nephew rolled a seven, dad took out the tickets and winked.

What about (and you could do this as a scavenger hunt or easter egg hunt) writing a different word on different slips of paper or small cards (one for each person being surprised) that they have to figure out the "order" to make a coherent sentence, with that sentence being the big announcement. . . and maybe a "prize" for the person who figures it out first?

I would make sure that you announce it soon, so those that have job can get the time off! Lots of wonderful ways to surprise them are already mentioned here......hope you all have a wonderfully magical vacation!

Good point, Wendy! :thumbsup2 Yes, we did take vacation times, etc. into consideration, of course, and will be announcing our big surprise very soon!

We can pretty much do this anyway you'd like on the show. I'm like super excited to do it for you if you pick me. :) We could be doing our normal show and then right in the middle we could have a "news flash alert" and annnounce it then. We can mention their town and names or show pics of them if you want so they all know that we are talking specifically to them. Oh my this could be fun.! :)
