Has anyone ever done the Petty Racing while in WDW? My husband wants to do it and I am curious if it is worth it.

I have yet to do this, but it is pretty high on my list. From what I've read and heard from one gentleman I used to work with, this is definitely worth it.

I can't remember what section of the DISboard I read this on, but there is a $199.00 deal going on right now for the 8-lap program. You have to specifically ask for this deal, they will not offer it to you otherwise.

My Dh did it and he LOVED IT! I watched and took photos. He wants to do it again! He did the driving experience and it took all afternoon, It was a small price to pay for his happieness... he was walking on clouds for the rest of the trip and I got to do anything I wanted. He wants to try again to better his speed.

"Worth it" is a relative term. For example, I don't think it's worth $250 to swim with dolphins, but for others it's the experience of a lifetime.

That being said HECK YEAH it's worth it!!!!
I did the 8 lap rookie experience last September, paid full price, and never regretted it.
There's no danger of that 3 hour experience getting you a Nextel Cup contract, but if driving and racing is your passion you really need to give it a shot.
Driving out there behind your instructor at 125 mph (124.89 in my case) gives you a lot more respect for the pros swapping paint at 190.

i have my husband signed up on oct 4th he has no idea! can you tell me did it take the full 3 hours, and would it be better for me and my 3year old to stay the whole time or can we show up later and be able to see him drive? i don't want to miss him driving , but i am afraid with a 3 year old she will get bored if we are there the whole time. thanks heather:earsgirl:

Ours actually took more than 3 hours. It had rained and they were trying to decide if they were going to reschedule. I'd say stay, if you don't want to miss anything. Maybe take along some toys.. to occupy the little one, or you could head over the magic kingdom for an hour or so and then come back. They will tell you approx. when they will be driving, but it happens pretty quick after they get started. I was not able to talk to Dh during most of the time. Although I could see him, there are lots of safety stuff to go over and they were all pretty intense and focused.
