Anyone have one?

I am having issues with my Boston running through the boundaries. We have had the fence in place for well over a year and 1/2.

Previously she never went closer to the boundary than when the alarm would start.

I don't know what to do with her.

I have one, and occassionally we run into problems.

The batteries in the collar may be weak or dead, meaning little to no punishment when they cross the line. The line may have a break in it, which means no punishment when they cross the line. The dog may have gotten used to the punishment, which would mean turning it up a notch.

I guess just check to make sure everything is working. If it is, you might just need to put it on a higher setting. If that doesn't work, I don't know what to say, except maybe retrain your dog to the boundaries of the fence.

Either way, good luck. I know it's a pain when it isn't working.

We actually don't even use it anymore. We had it for our beagle who had a tendancy of running off if he saw something he wanted (cat, dog, bird, blade of grass). But the beagle is no longer with us, sadly.

With terriers, you're dealing with the prey instinct. If you've checked the batteries and that there's no break, then it may be that something really tempting has come along that makes it worth it to the dog to cross.

We have the electric fence in conjunction with a privacy fence, since our terriers would dig out without it. The smart one goes out every single morning and checks the entire perimeter for breaks or dead batteries, hoping that this is the day she can escape.
