Many of you are familiar with Mr. Monty Dog.

Monty was what my BF always wanted to call his dog. It doesn't really have a deep meaning, he just always thought Monty was the perfect dog name.

:)

Two new kittens, and I lied to my boys about their gender. Otherwise we would have had a Padme and a Leia! As it stands, they are Obi and Sky. Works just fine for me and they will be "its" in a couple of months anyway!

I love reading this because we are getting a puppy soon and trying to come up with a name.

I have two cats right now. Chatham, is my long haired quite fluffy girl. I lived on the Cape most of my life and loved the area around Chatham and liked the way it sounded.

Dallas, Chatham's brother, was originally Dale because he was so fast but the name just didn't work so Dallas somehow came out one day and clicked.

Ironically, DFiance is in the last stages of getting a job in Dallas, TX. Never thought I would live there when I named him.

We had a dog, 1/2 german Shepard 1/2 everything else, growing up that we named JMACB and called him J. It was the first letters of everyone in our family household at the time. I thought that was so creative.

For our new puppy, a Corgi, we are thinking about Maurice and calling him Reecie. Don't want to spell it like the candy!!! For me he would be named after Beauty and the Beast and for DFiance he will be named after a kid that he went to high school with. We also like Riley and Brady but want to save Brady for a son!!!!

His father moved out a few weeks before Christmas. So the day before christmas, my son and I went to the pet store and picked out "his" new puppy. A tiny little apricot pomarenian.

When we got home, I asked him to name her. He decided to name her after the little girl at school he had a crush on at the time.

So "Callie" was named.

A few weeks later, it was pet day at his daycare. So I brought her to the class. All the children were gathered around petting her and one of them asked her name. So I said its Callie. A little red headed curly haired girl in the back piped up and said "My name is Callie". So I responded, "Ooooh, you're Callie."

This is a great story. Very cute!

:)

Siamese cat named Bella - because aren't all cats beautiful?!!!

Brittany Spaniel named Brittany - Duh - we're just one creative family.

Our 15 year old Shih Tzu is named Beethoven. But when we acquired him at age 6, the little girl that lived across the street from us at that time, could not pronounce Beethoven, so she used to call him Bay Bay....the named stuck and now he hardly ever answers to Beethoven.

One cat is Tigger because she's moves around really fast. And the second one is Smokey, my wife named him that because he's all grey and I'm a firefighter. :earsboy:

Our 13 year old cat is Buster, but we call him Boo-Boo Kitty. He just looked like a Buster when we got him. Our 2 year old kitty is Hazel. I always wanted a cat named Hazel...used to watch that old TV show on reruns! Last Christmas, Santa brought us a sweet little Toy Fox Terrier. My son wanted a dog SO bad and when he saw her he just knew she was a "Peppie"!

Sorry to be a month late replying to this thread, but we just got our puppy last Friday.....

She is a flat coated retriever and her name is "Maggie"

We call her Maggie because that is a short form of Margaret.

Her official AKC name is "Blackgem Baroness Thatcher." ;)

Here is her picture taken on the day she was born....She is "red collar" puppy.

oh, how incredibly insensitive of me. in my excitement over the new puppy, I completely didn't mention the other pets in our family....

Dingle, the cat. Originally named Oreo at the pound, we changed it to Slider after the Cleveland Indians mascot. For some reason, a few days later, our then 3 yr old started calling him Dingle (not a word we ever used around the house) Well, it stuck, and it fits. He's the cat with the dingles...if ya know what I mean!

Fish...well, we started with three zebra danios....named after their relative size to one another "small" "medium" and "large." they lasted about a year and a half, and recently one died. Can't really tell which one without comparing it to the others. Many other fish have come and gone in the meantime, and I think right now "blueberry" and "colorful" are the other ones left.

We did have two hamsters, Bob and Larry, but they went to hamster heaven, thank goodness. They were named after the Veggie Tales characters.

Rosie baby fluffy kitty yes a cat all the kids picked a name and that is the name. Rosie is a boy kitty.

Zander is a ten pound chihuahua & min pin mix. He is named after my best friend/housemate's favorite lead singer, Robin Zander from Cheap Trick. I liked the name because it sounds like a big tough german shepherd's name and this tiny dog is all big bark and attitude.

My screen name is one of my nicknames for him.

Cats:
Sox (we had a long haired cat named Boots at the time- he had large fluffy white legs, and they had the same markings but Sox is short haired)

Patches - she is calico

Bob- my husband named him, he has no tail and looks just like a bobcat, and he is the wildest and sweetest cat we have ever had

Dogs:

Snickers - a good friend had an all black puppy named Hershey, and Snickers was caramel colored as a puppy, now he is red. He is a mixed up mutt.

Jack- a collie (short for Robbins' Sherman Jackson his AKC name, the Sherman was for my husband's grandfather who passed away shortly before we got the puppy- just liked the name Jackson with it, it sure is an ugly name all together but Jack fits him)

Shasta- (she passed away 3 mos ago at the age of 10) my mom named her after a beautiful Husky that lived next door when I was a child. Shasta was half chow and half black lab. If anyone remembers Dreyfuss from the show Empty Nest, she looked just like him.

Our cat's name is Tinkerbell. I wanted a Disney name and that was the only one that we could all agree on. :teeth:

We had two labs (both recently gone now) - and we were somewhat inventive in coming up with their names.

We named them both after Greek Gods/Goddesses

KALI - the Greek Goddess of Destruction
(and she lived up to her name!)

ORION - the Hunting God (lab/hunting - went together well)
However, he quickly became known as Rowdy as a nickname

This is my pet from when I lived with my parents, his name is Scooter-named by my brother, he is a flat coat retriever.

This is Mrs. Beasley (bunny)...I have no idea why I started calling her that, her original name was Oreo, and her brother Jack when he was a puppy.

And this is Jack who was named that when we got him so we kept the name, sometimes I call him Jacque....(i am weird, I have no idea why, sometimes for a nickname we also call him Bubba)

I have no idea why he likes to carry that bowl around....lol

My cat, who died last year (18 or so)was named Samson--because of his huge tufts of fur on his face.

My husband's cat (17 yrs) is named Dixie, because my Yankee husband (from Massachusetts) loves the south (and, hey, we're here, now!).

Our new kitten, who we found a few weeks ago all wet, scrawny, and starving in the bushes in the front of a restaurant is called Bushy. . .after the bushes where we found him, and after George W.

Growing up we had a Siamese named Meeko. . .we thought it was Thai for cat, but really it was Japanese--and incorrect Japanese. I think the Japanese word for cat is Nekko. . .and I never learned what the Thai word was.

I also grew up with Muppet (Muppy) for short, that I named as a kid. He was a fantastic Chocolate Point kitty. He lived til he was 18 or 19, too.

My cat, who is a male, is called Joe. It's short for something that's really girly (but I won't post it and embarrass him :p ).

In my defense, we had the name and a female cat picked out but fell in love with Joe at the last minute and the name stuck.

Monty Dog is named Monty soley because my BF always wanted a dog named Monty, and when we went to pick our Monty up, he looked so much like a Monty Dog. :) I agreed, he was definately a Monty and now he's ours. :)
