An acquaintance is trying to convince me that you can bring your dog with you if you stay at the Fort Wilderness camp ground. She's not sure if it's at the cabins or just the RV side. I think she's crazy. anyone ever heard of this?

Yes, there are sections in the campground that allow pets. There is an extra fee per night for those sites. I don't believe pets are allowed in the cabins though.

Pets are only allowed in RVs...no cabins and no tents. Also, only at certain "pet friendly" sites.

Your acquaintance would have been crazy to think so a few years ago, but now it's allowed. There are some rules involved, though from what I have read elsewhere on the Disboards, in practice many see the "rules" as suggestions. I suspect the rule of no dogs in cabins is a rule that actually rules, if only because those interested in bringing their pets tend to stay at campsites not in cabins.

@patty57: I have read on the FtW camping forum that the "rules" allow people to have pets in a tent or pop-up as long as when you are away from your tent or pop-up the pet is in a cage or other pet container, though I have read some posts by people who indicate that they ignore that requirement. And while there are "pet friendly" camping loops, I have read of people staying in non-pet loops with pets.
