My mom and I are going to DisneyWorld. She has to take her dog, we are driving. My question is has anyone every used the kennel at DisneyWorld or another kennel somewhere close? :dog:
Thanks :paw:

I have used the WDW kennels lots....Spicey loves 'em.

but he is an exception cat!!!

If you leave your dog at the kennel - remember to come and walk him.

when you have your lunch - just go back to the kennel walk your dog and have a picinic with him.

None of the Disney resort allows pets in their rooms. there are several offsite places that do.

I like Epcot and FW - because they have enough room to walk your pet.

there is a little place behind Studio and AK - but I have been told they are small. I don't know because I haven't use these places.

the one at MK is really at TTC (ticket/transportation center) - it is next to the bus stop. So my cat hates it. Dogs have better nerves and this is a great place if your dog is not borthered by the loud buses..

So what do you wish to know about them?

We used Bass Pet Motel, it was great.
Not far from DW at all...and they get much more attention, special playtime..etc.
I believe you can just do 'day care ' if you like too.

I have searched and can not find the number..but it is on Google. "Bass Pet Motel" on Bass Road....about 2 miles down from Old Town.

We have boarded both our cats and dogs at the Disney kennels. Whie I would much prefer to leave them at a full-service kennel, we and they have never been unhappy at Disney.

The kennels open one (hmmm...doubting myself...2?) hour before the park open and close one hour after the parks closes. My suggestion would be to find the park that is open the latest so that you may visit them as much and as late as possile. The last time we were there with a boarded animal, parks were closing at 7 and 8PM. So, it was an issue.

The MK kennels for cats are larger than Epcot. We've only ever boarded at MK or Epcot, so I cannot speak for the other two. I have not seen the dog facilities at Epcot, but was much more impressed with Epcot as a whole than the MK. They are all cleaned, sanitary, and well-maintained. But, as someone else mentioned, the MK one seems to get very loud with the dogs. Epcot stays quieter in our experiences.

Also- kennel parking at Epcot rocks.... :rolleyes1 We have a tendency to use it even when Fido or Kitty aren't there.

here is the site

WDW is in Lake buena Vista. it only list the WDW kennels because there is no other in LBV.

Kissimmee is where Bass pet motel is located.

there are also kennels in Orlando.

I didn't like bass because of their limited hours. they close at 5 pm. Spicey loves his night walks - he is a cat...

I also love to visit him. I have had him since he was tiny baby at 5 weeks. this year in May he will be 20 years old! He has been going to WDW since he was 3 months old....so he has been alot!!!

where can we email disney to ask for a pet friendly hoel at the resorts with so many rooms they could do it universal does

thank you. I just sent my 1st email .I told them I know they have kennels but a 3 lb dog who is like a baby won't go to a kennel. I told them I have to stay ay universal. I own disney vacation club but have to rent the points to stay at universal with the dog[ but I didn't tell them I rent them]maria

maybe we should send something to the DVC ......

I also belong to DVC.

So I have started to stay in celebration World resort - it is much cheaper than DVC - plus Spicey can be in the room with me. plus it like DVC is a timeshare - so kitchen and washer/dryers....

Now it does have a charge $50 for the week. I know the Universal hotels don't charge any extra.

you know when I get money again - I will have to take Spicey back to US - he really loved that place....

I so agree!!! After moving to Florida, we vacationed exclusively at WDW, because it was so convenient. Then we got our 4-legged baby girl. :dog: It's no longer convenient. :sad1: We now go to Universal instead. I really miss WDW, but staying offsite doesn't appeal to us. I would love to see them open up at least one floor or wing at a resort in each category. If Universal can maintain their resorts at a deluxe status & still allow pets, why couldn't WDW? :confused3 What really makes me unhappy is that Disney won't allow Swan & Dolphin to accept pets. They're the only Starwood hotels that don't. I did call them & ask why they don't allow pets, & was told it was a WDW policy.

I also agree! Why can't Disney open up specific buildings to pets? I'm in the same boat right now trying to get a trip together end of April but really don't want to leave my 5 lb yorkie home. We're also thinking of Universal this time. (But the prices are so high this year, no deals anywhere it seems!) Anyway good luck. One thing I do NOT recommend is do not leave the dog in the Disney kennels overnight. They are just cages, maybe some dogs can handle it but I really wouldn't recommend. We HAVE boarded her in Disney kennels for the day while we went to the parks and came back in the middle of the day to check on her and walk her which she did fine, but for overnight I would go to a real kennel or stay somewhere that allows pets. I know Sheraton's do but not the Dolphin/Swan which also is a bummer. :paw: :dog2:

send them an email like I did tell them you have been coming to disney for years and now go to universal. I told them I won't use a kennel and 1 building at each or some of the resorts would help
maria

Spicey does okay in the kennel.

of course he is a cat - a very old cat. and few things bother him. He is 19 years young!!!

He definitely seems to like FW.

he walks himself to his cage - unless one of the dogs barks at him. I like to carry him - but he wants to walk....

when he dies.....I may never be able to go to WDW without thinking of him....

disney did not write me back - but DVC did - we are NOT planning on a pet accessible resort at this time.....

It's so funny this would come up! I emailed WDW a little over a week ago about making part of their resorts pet friendly. Maybe, if they hear from enough people and they see they're losing potential guests in their resorts, they'll finally do it.

Thanks for all of your suggestions. I agree I wish they would make one of their resorts "pet friendly". We don't need a place afterall. We are flying. Thanks again I hope this thread has helped others.
43 days and then Disney here I come!!!!!! :cool1:
