Pets and Planes

I am taking my small pet on a trip this weekend...and I have a question about carry ons...

I will have one carry on size suitcase with everything I am going to need (including my purse) and my dog Muffin will be in a smaller carrying soft kennel to put under my feet...

My question is...on Delta and Us Airways...are they going to let me carry on both my bag and Muffin?

Do you have a reservation for your pet? All airlines require that you have an advance reservation and pay a fee in order to take a pet on a plane. There are a limited number of pets allowed on any given flight and pets cannot be accomodated on all flights for a variety of reasons. Policies about pets and carry on baggage likely vary from airline to airline, so a call to Delta and US Airways probably is in order.

When I have taken my cat with me on flights, since I paid a fee I was allowed one other small carry on. Things to do change, so I agree with the other poster, call the airline. Also, make sure you have a copy of your current vet records. Sometimes the airline will ask to see the records sometimes not.

yes, she is booked and the fee is paid.

And I know it says the pet counts as a carry on...but we get two, right?

One "purse size" and one regular carry on size...i just wonder if I can count my dog as a purse size?

She is 6 pounds.

As long as she can fit underneath the seat in front of you, it should be okay.

Thanks! I didn't want to stuff all of my clothes in a carryon, only to find that they make me check it.
