Pets allowed in Cabin of Air Canada

All I can say is I hope none of you are on board if I ever bring my dog on a plane. When she gets nervous she gets these smelly fish sack farts that can really turn anybody stomach inside out .

Can you buy a seat for the dog or does it still have to be a small dog that fits in a carrier?

My Mom's dog is a ****zu (they say allergy free but not sure how much this is true. I don't get allergic reactions when I am near her but my allergy to dogs is not my worst)

She would pay a full fare to fly with the dog next to her as the dog has heart problems and can't go in the cargo anymore...

Sorry but I still don't see the answer on here...pardon me if I missed it. Are the pets given a SEAT? Can we buy my Mom's Sh it zu a seat? That would be great.

NO, pets are not given a seat. They must be in a carrier that fits under the seat. The charge for pets is much less than the cost of a seat. Plus, they must remain in their carrier at all times (obviously this does not apply to service animals).

A really good place to look for this information is the Air Canada website:

You may pre-register your cat or small dog for travel in the cabin as of June 17, 2009 for travel on or after July 1, 2009, provided:

* You are travelling on an Air Canada or Jazz flight;
* Your pet is transported in an approved carrier small enough to fit under your seat in front of you.

That's too bad. She is completely willing to pay for a seat for the dog cause she is just a little too big to fit under the seat...Oh well, she will continue to drive to Florida....

Funny thing is...AC has re-instituted this because people complained and wanted it...guess you can't please all the people all of the time!:confused3

I haven't read all of this thread. But when I read the heading I had to laugh. My cat howls in the car (actually as soon as she is in the carrier, after a five minutes struggle).
I can only imagine having a parachute strapped on us and being 'asked' to leave the plane :rotfl2:
