Petition to save the VMK cards(Quest Card Packs)! with codes.

I'm with you Mal - Save the Cards!

I think what he's talking about is getting rid of the existing bonus packs. As I understand it, for every 3-4 quests you take you get your cards for those individual quests plus you got a bonus pack of a half-to-full dozen additional cards, usually random extras they had, plus that silly bracelet and some fast passes. My hope is they're just talking about getting rid of all the old Series 1-2 cards in the bonus packs and replacing them with new Series 3 cards.

I sure hope so. I say, I have always been jealous of the early bird players of VMK. I started in April of '06 and by that point I'd missed the Mansion and Pirate Quests, both of which gave like 7 cards each! When I joined I was content with the "Lands" and 50th Quests which only gave 3 cards each. Since I've started it's been down hill. HSM and the New Pirate Quests gave only 2 cards a piece and DLR Halloween only 1. Sure Holiday went back to 3, but that was just a retread.

And now the new Animation Trivia Quest is also only going to give 1 card too? Is that the future of VMK? Two or three new in-park quests per year each for one card? Bah! Come on Yavn and Co, I thought VMK was supposed to get people to the parks... one little card isn't going to be much encouragement, especially with the old quests being phased out and no more Prize Packs. Let's see another 7 card quest! One new high-priced item can be "easy" to trade for in-game versus seven. Plus, it's great coming home with a stack of cards. I always feel like a kid at Christmas as I sit and enter all my codes...

I'm Goofy_Bob. I am for keeping the in park cards and prize packs. Thank you.

Small potatoes :)

I, being a card collector, have TWO 800 count cardboard boxes filled with used cards. Plus I have a few other small piles laying around. I literally have between 4000-6000 used cards in my collectibles den.

GEEZES!! I have 0, you have more than that, not to mention 4000-6000

And I... have three cards.... the not even full tomorrowland set (doesn't have the pink nemo chair). So beat that!

While i like the idea of cards and all, i live far far away from the parks and haven't really had a chance to try and collect them or anything. But what the hey, i'll sign too.

Well I will sign up. I really hope that he was just not explaining himself very well. I know I go to Disney to get the packs. So if there is no packs to get why go. Oh ya because of the mouse.

But I will not make the same effort if no cards. But maybe they are going to sell them like the pins. Or better yet trading cards with a stick of gum in them.

I enjoy the cards, I'd be disappointed if they were gone. So count me as signed on the petition. I can't imagine why they would consider this since as Belle as stated for some thats getting them to the park. For card collectors and for that matter those who collect rare in VMK it might be nice to see more limited editions of some cards, like the holiday specials.

For me, I do NOT go to WDW for VMK prizes, that has just become a bonus for me. I have just as much incentive to go to Disney Parks even if VMK didn't exist!! Its a lifelong love for me, and I'll always go.

I'll sign but I don't think they are doing away with quests or quest cards...

I think there will still be in park quests with cards won- but I believe they may give a different prize for completing them all- remember when we were filling out surveys asking about priorty wishes seating, free sodas, etc-

I bet they will come out with something more "in Park" for the prize

My worst problem is I never got all of serries one and two and NOW there is a serries 3....

I live in California, less than 8 hours away from DLR and I have no cards. :sad2: We plan to do to Disneyland this spring sometime and if all we get is one card that's kind of a bummer.

That's not why we are going of course but my DD and I were looking forward to the quests and all the stuff I was thinking we would get. Who knows now??? :confused3

I vote for the cards. For one thing, I am going to DLR in October and am considering staying on site IF they still offer the stitch stuff. I think the cards are a definate allure for the park - I also like to come home and type in a zillion codes (ROFL) - well, it is sort of like getting a bunch of presents!

KEEP THE CARDS!!!

I really don't see a concern with no more cards being available. I do not read Yavn's comments to mean that there will be no more cards. In fact, the display of the first in Series 3 is displayed right there for us to see.

He only mentions the end of the bracelets and the bonus cards - the bracelet is received (along with a small bonus pack) when you complete four (3?) quests at the same time. With several quests being discontinued (as we already know) there may no longer be 4 quests to turn in at once - therefore, no bonus packs or bracelets.

Furthermore, the newsletter specifically states, "COMING SOON the Animation Viewer! It's the first card in the Series 3 set. That's right, we said Series 3!"

Add to that - they have to give us the code on something. I believe the new cards will be created, just not bonus cards or bracelets.

My real question is - What does a virtual animation viewer do? Does it show a film strip when we click on it? Or does it just sit pretty in my room on a table?

And although I realize this will be an unpopular opinion, I have absolutely no excitement about decorating a room with a giant globe protruding into the middle of it. Oh well - guess I will have to get creative with trees. :)

A brief history of VMK shows an interesting track record.......

Long ago, they started selling pins every weekend to make up complete sets. Then they decided we would rather fight to get into a staff room for the final pin than buy it in the Emporium.

They gave us a cool Star Traders shop in Tomorrowland, then decided it shouldn't be open to everyone anymore.

They gave us multi-use magic pins, then figured we would like single-use magic even better.

They "fixed" an illogically-scored (but popular and lucrative) fireworks game, and figured nobody would mind if they took away the big credit pay-offs.

They've always given out VMK card packs as in-park rewards, which players flock to the parks in huge numbers to obtain, and now they're deciding to.......

Maybe I'm just pessimistic, but it's not looking real good here, folks!

Free sodas, anyone? :drinking1

Alice, that's all so true. Disney Dreams, I do agree it is not clear that there will be an elimination of cards, he states series 3 is starting and displays the card. That statement was clear as mud, we will have to wait and see. And yes, while in real life that viewer may be cool, if it does nothing it will be like the 50th lamp - kind of out of place and odd. I think they have been trending rather towards less items given as prizes. For example one animator desk, one pumpkin, a room and a piano, a room and a well. Some of these cards were often attatched to the quest if I am not mistaken. I think less cards and prizes is what he is trying to say. This may be their possible solution to people grabbing handfulls of the cards. The problem I have is these virtual items a cost them nothing other then the printing and such. Giving real items will cost them more and be less popular. Right now they are drawing people in to the parks and encouraging AP. Give me a soda, that will make me come back, and try sharing that with a friend or trading it.

I so agree...history is not on our side :(

Yavn said PACKS not bonus CARD as in single only one.

I never said he said they were taking ALL cards away....but he did say packs and I am taking him at his word

If they do decide to take the "PACKS" away I hope they add the option of being able to purchase packs of cards....ie pokemon cards and animal crossing cards which come in the foil packs with 10 cards per pack with codes for the item on the cards. Animal crossing cards were $3.98 a pack.

This could spin off a whole new ave. for Disney and VMK and I see big money for them and the secondary market.

Example:

Series 4

30 cards total 10 cards per pack think of the numbers of card packs that could be sold.

you never know what cards you will get and trading and multi card pack purchases will result.

I truly hope I have taken Yavn's statement out of context and they are not even considering doing away with the card PACKStime will tell and hopefully this thread will also help.

I, too, hope that we are misreading what he put in there, and that the cards are alive and well and living in the suburbs. On the off chance that what he said is the verbatim, gospel truth and they are doing away with the cards, then please sign me up.

I have managed to scrape together all of series one and two, except for the holy triumvirate of the stitch cards. I would hate to be stuck in this position for the rest of time!

If he is talking about totally removing cards with codes all together, then please add my name to the petition.

I hope he will clarify exactly what he means soon. I know when I was at vmk central on Saturday, someone told my son there are new things to come. That person wouldn't elaborate, but has peaked our curiosity.

Hmm, I wonder if VMK's classification as a "free game" would put some kind of legal restriction on this?

All of the other cards have just barely avoided being a direct purchase. The prizes from the in-game printouts and the park quests require that you buy admission, and everything else inside the park could be considered "gift with purchase", including the real pin sets. Promotions outside of the park have always been cards included with the purchase of something else.

Which brings us back around full circle; VMK was created to promote Disney parks and products. What incentive do they have to sell game cards directly, when they can use them to get players to buy other things?

Considering that the quest card packs are being reevaluated, I can't help but wonder if Disney feels they aren't getting a big enough return for their trouble, compared to other avenues. Something tells me VMK may not have a lot of say in this.

Haha Me Too Defitnitly I Have Two Shoesboxes and and old Book Sock filled with quest!! I'm not much of a card collecter, I would rather have the item on VMK. You Know What Would Be Really cool tho? For those who do not collect them you could go to WDW or DLR and trade three or four cards in for a new card or better yet a retired one with a fresh code. But i highly doubt that will ever happen
