Hey guys, I just came across this on Facebook. It appears that someone (a DVC member) has created a petition to Disney regarding large tour groups, and the safety of other guests. What do you guys think?

Honestly? Disney openly courts the foreign tour groups, so Disney isn't about to start throwing those groups out of the park.

Makes me wonder if senior class trips are also included as tour groups.

I think it's a pretty lame attempt by elitist DVC members who apparently can't go on vacation anywhere else. I say (to the whiners), grow up, and learn how to deal with crowds, or pick another time to visit. Obviously large groups represent much more money to Disney than DVC members.

It seems as if the elitists are like the so-called 2%-ers from the occupy days. They think they are more important than they actually are.

I'm not signing anything from ***********

Um...I am DVC and while I am not fond of the tour groups (solely because I am not fond of crowded park times and we try to avoid that), I don't find it a safety issue to have these tour groups. I think this petition is silly and won't sign. And I don't think Disney will care. But I am highly offended by the previous post....'elitist'...really????

Lol, DVC members can stuff it with their 'we go x times a year' in this. It's no measure of seniority or 'better than thou'.

I live close and go once a WEEK. What happens when I see a tour group? I roll my eyes and walk the other way or choose a different park. Obviously there are groups who cause trouble for other guests, but then it is THEIR responsibility to report that to a CM if it hasn't already been seen. I'm willing to bet that the really bad experiences people rant about are not only hyperbolized but also few and far between.

Unless a BTG has ganged up on you to beat the crap out of you, I doubt there is a 'safety risk'.

Groups chant loudly back and forth. Although it may be intended as good fun, when in excess, it can have a negative impact on park guests as was videoed by a guest when a nighttime parade was cancelled at the Magic Kingdom due to the volume of the chanting. While residing at the resorts, the massive size of the group coupled with poor supervision has a negative impact on guests when doors are being knocked on in the middle of the night and a pool is closed as occurred at the All Star Sports Resort
Did all of this really happen?!!

I'm still traumatized by all the Brazilian men in their speedos at TL back when I was 11. That's my #1 tour group memory! :rotfl2:

,,,,,,,,,I was there July 13-18' saw many South American tour groups, I thought they were remarkably well behaved. I was actually surprised but pleased as well.

It was as if disney finally laid down the law to these groups. In past trips, 2008 and 2011 they were horrible!!!!

I find it hard to believe they'd cancel Wishes because of chanting.

But I can believe knocking on doors during the night. I'm pretty sure that complaint isn't ONLY in regards to tour groups though. Lots of teens are jerks at night on vacation.

I have never been injured by a tour group.

Their cheering doesn't bother me.

So long as Disney is adhering to fire codes as far as number of people in the work total and within individual attractions, I don't see them doing much.

I'm a DVC Member and have never felt our vacations diminished because a large number of people wearing the same color shirt are loudly following a flag.

And I agree it seems the petition was done by "an elite" member. We own a piece of the magic, we don't own the whole place.

We were there last week, saw lots of tour groups. They had very little effect on us. Negative was at the fireworks at Hollywood Studios, where a few kids from one group were extremely pushy and didn't seem to have the same concept of personal space that I did. Annoying, but not the end of the world.

We did have fastpasses at Space MOuntain, when the SB line was at 90 minutes. As we walked past there was 2 groups chanting back and forth at each other in that tight space, I did feel very bad for the people around them in that line for over an hour.

But honestly, just walking around the parks and such, it wasn't a problem at all.

This petition is deplorable. Just walk the opposite way, or don't go when the big groups are there.

Man, there are a bunch of "groups" of people I'd like to see Disney ban but it won't ever happen! Basically, they should ban everyone w/o a screen name on Dis of "JoeA".

Rest of you...banned! :cool1:

The tour groups are not any kind of a safety threat...if they were, they'd be dealt with. They're a nuisance sometimes (but so are tantruming children LOL).

I think it's a bit silly and way over the top. With large tour groups, be it South American or cheerleaders, you're going to encounter a blocked path and some sort of chanting or singing. It can be downright annoying at times but seriously, just go in the other direction if it bothers you (general you) so much.

I wonder how FP+ works for these groups NOW??? Do they log into MDE with 50 people's names...and book ressies??
