Petite People Thread

Hi everyone!:thumbsup2 PJ here and nice to meet you all. I'm 5'0" and currently 187 lbs. I'm 49 years old and dealing with the old mid-life crisis issue as well as being "fat". Gosh, already I feel like I'm in AA - "HI my name is PJ and I'm a food addict". Which I think is pretty true. My friend, my enemy, food. It hasn't always been this way, which is why I'm really really sick of this situation. I was an athlete and not just as a child, well into my 30's. But life with it's lovely "lessons" has taught me you can't run from your issues. :rotfl: Heck, I can't even jog away from then right now with my poor old sore knees.

I'm reallly thinking of Bistro MD (similar to Jenny Craig and Nutrisystem but better food - so I am told). Anyway...

POWER TO THE PETITES! If I could just get back on the wagon, in June I was walking on the treadmill or biking 30-40 minutes and cutting portions and doing great, then I went on vacation and BAM - I have YET to get back on the horse, so-to-speak. But this thread has lifted my spirits and so - I am getting motivated as I sit here typing. Let's just all become SASSY SHRIMPS! Ok, maybe that's not a great slogan, I apologize... my humor is a little muted from being weary. Anyway, thanks for starting the thread - and let's just remember - we are in it together...:thumbsup2

Hi Everyone -

I added Mel and PJ to the top of the thread - but Mel and PJ let me know when you have a goal weight and I'll add that too!

I do think PJ's right - we need a name! I like Sassy Shrimps or maybe Petite Princesses? to make it a Disney theme?

What do you all think? Do we need a name?

I agree a name would be good-- powerful petites, little and lean, I don't know, I'm pretty sure this is just lack of sleep talking.

This week has been much tougher than last. My weight is not budging (at least it isn't going up). Maybe it is the gray, rainy days, I have no idea but I need to get energized again.

Hi Annie - My goal is 125 for now.

I like Petite Princesses to keep the Disney theme, but the other one is cute too!!

I did good for about a day and a half this week before giving in to going to Burger King on Wednesday night with the kids.

I'm going out to lunch to a new little greek resaurant in town. I think I will order the grilled veggie pita - a medley of grilled zucchini, yellow squash, eggplant, oven roasted tomato, roasted red pepper on a pita w/ feta cheese and a basil pesto sauce.

Here is hoping I get my eating back into control.

I love the Petite Princesses - being Dis boards and all! Great idea.

My goal is 120 but I'd LOVE to hit the "teens" once again! But I think maintaining 120 would be just fine for me. So I'm 187 - goal 120 lbs to lose... HOLY CRAP 67 that's a child! Wouldn't it be easier to just give birth? Just teasing - too old for that! Have a great day all.:yay:

Well, I'm off Nutrisystem, and doing pretty well. I only over ate one day, but I didn't do terribly. I am holding at 133 and I hope to keep it under control. To add insult to injury, I went to the doctor yesterday and found out that at 33 years old, I am going through menopause. I had a hysterectomy a few years ago, and apparently, the ovary that the surgeon left has gone kaput. That will make my weight loss more difficult, but I am determined.:thumbsup2

Hello petite people!

 Hello Melanie!

Well, sister Peggy (TiggersPal) told me about this thread, so I thought I'd stop by and 'sign up'. I start on BistroMD next Friday (just placed my first order yesterday) and also will be having a complete physical at the end of the month. In anticipation of the Dr smacking me in the head :headache: I need to clean up my eating habits and drop some serious weight. As someone who is morbidly obese, I know many health issues can be improved/removed by slowly loosing and building some muscle too. I've recently been having trouble with my hips, and walking used to be my ONLY exercise!

I've got a tempermantal scale and recent weight gain of a few pounds from my 4 day Disneyland trip last weekend, so I think I'll give my 'official' starting weight next Friday, when my new plan kicks in. In the meantime, I have NO food in the house, so will be shopping to get some wholesome supplies on hand for this next week. I'll admit to being tempted to 'visit' some of my favorite foods this week before the new plan begins, but will be fighting that urge tooth and nail!

I'm doing the 5 day plan (with snacks) on BistroMD, so will still be responsible for weekend meals. I'll be relying on years of WW experience to guide me here and on sister Peg to help when doing our 'social dining'...split those entres...:lmao:

Looking forward to getting to know all of you as we work on this project together. :grouphug:

This week has been tough. I've been pretty good with my diet (except for pizza for dinner tonight, but it was my DD5's reward for her patience with us for spending much of the afternoon closing our pool), but my weight won't budge. I have jogged everyday except for one and am about to head down to the treadmill to put in 5-6 miles. Wish me luck...

Good Luck! Did you have some salad with that pizza? I find if I eat salad before the pizza, I'm good with one slice. If not, I need 2-3!:scared1:

Do you jog at a steady pace? It was suggested to me (and when I do it it works) to run intervals. Two minutes fast walk, 30 second jog - for 45 minutes. It tricks your body into burning more calories. (so I was told) but it does seem like when I do it, I do drop more weight.

Welcome ibouncetoo! Glad you found us! I knew if I put an SOS out there that I would find others like me who struggle with being short and trying to lose. Good luck as you begin your journey. You're right we can do this together!!!!

The salad would have been a good idea-- as it was I stuck to 2 pieces. I'll try to get on the right track today.

I usually job at about 5mph on the treadmill for 3-4 miles then walk an additional few miles at 4-4.2mph. I have done intervals when I want to do above 9 miles-- I'll hav eto see which weeks I lose more.

I took my friend out for dinner for her birthday last night (Italian) which is my favorite... we split an entry and I added a salad. I only finished 1/2 of my meal and I was good. I did have one slice of bread which I usually don't do and we split a dessert but I only had 4 bites. I'm trying to change my thinking about food, that relationship of "not enough" and soothing myself with food. I see some progress in my thinking but the key - is not having a refrigerator working so I can't bring home leftovers! I took my left overs last night to my friend Colleen's who we visited after dinner!
was pretty good work-out! I KO'd him in round 4 - YIPEE. I enjoyed the bowling too, although it wasn't as strenuous. Getting back to the gym in the mornings before work is my goal this week - because for me if I walk/bike or do ANYTHING at the gym the pounds come off so much easier. That muscle memory is KEY for me losing weight.

Well, folks - here's a little pixie dust for all to have a great week. JACKIE - so good to see you on board - !!!! :wizard:

:cheer2: A group cheer!
