Peter Pan's Flight - Why So Popular?

First of all, forgive me if this is an ignorant question but why is Peter Pan's Flight so popular? I'll be making my first trip in about 7 years to Disney World with my girlfriend. I've been to Disney World and the magic kingdom 11 or 12 times as a kid and remember the ride very well and never remember it being a significant attraction. Am I mistaken or has the new queue drawn people in that much? Thanks!

It's popular because it's a classic that every member of the family can enjoy.

The line is always long because it's a low capacity slow loading ride.

The long lines existed before the new queue.

Yep, exactly. Slow moving and small cars = low capacity. It's not my favorite ride in MK, but it's tradition I love. I've never timed it, but it also seems like a very short ride.

I think it's primarily because:

1) ALL ages can ride it
2) It's a classic, much beloved story
3) Nostalgia, since it's been around for so long

I enjoy it every time I go on it, but it's in the middle of the pack as far as my favorite attractions at MK.

I agree with the others. It's a classic that no more popular than other rides...it just has low capacity, which bumps up wait times, and makes it appear more popular.

I. Agree with everything said above. The people I know that are particularly fond of it love its attention to detail, especially as you fly over london. The flying boat's are also unique amongst the many dark rides at WDW.

It's simply classic and beautiful. We only got to ride once last trip and that was on our last night. I am hoping for multiple times this year!

as previous posters have commented it is a classic ride for a classic movie. it's one of the originals that hasn't been closed like snow white and mr toad. it's definitely one of those rides that i will FP to go on once during my trip just to get my traditional trip nostalgia.

It's an all time classic for us. Everyone can ride and to us, it's quintessential Disney. Different from the setup of other dark rides. It's always the first and last ride of our trip. We always FP it though because even though the line is cool the wait drives me bananas :)

Nostalgia.

Last trip we hadn't been in 4 years. My kids complained when I said lets ride PP. They just wanted to do coasters. They moaned and complained and couldn't really remember the ride. They just knew it wasn't Splash or Space. After we got off the ride they were so excited because they remembered riding that together when they were little.

I hated the ride as a child and since our time is so limited, I will not be making new nostalgia for my kids on Peter Pan! That "Come in, everybody, here we gooooooo!" still sticks in my head after 30 years of not riding it!

I think it is one of those Disney things where the "must do" factor feeds on itself .... it is a unique dark ride so people have interest and want to do it so plan around doing it at rope drop, etc. ... and then people see the long lines so realize they need to plan for next time and so now there is more and more interest and thus requires more planning and it just feeds on itself

Like the Kardashians, longer lines to the right and character breakfasts over lunches it is popular for being popular. People do it because they feel like they have to. Philharmagic is a MUCH better attraction and is right next door.

We love Philharmagic so much! We see it many times in a trip. Someone in one of my FB groups was hating on it and I just couldn't understand that lol

If you have toddlers there aren't a lot they can ride, but once my kids were five or so, they were done with many the MK little kid rides. If depends if your children like the faster wilder rides or not.

This is one that if you remember going on it in years past then you love it because it is tradition. I'll descent and say I never really loved it (POC and HM are my two never miss rides, well that and SM when I'm not pregnant)... Anyway, my Mom loves it and so we go on it for her; that and it's a small world (I'm already bracing now for the song, it just gets stuck in your head and you never get it out but it's Mom's favorite ride and she did give birth to us...). If you don't really remember it as being something that is a must see and you don't have small kids then you can probably skip it and go on another ride you do love.

Didn't go to WDW as a kid, but have been around 40 times as an adult and PP is one of my favorites. I love the perspective of flying that is achieved with such basic old-school technology.
