I absolutely love reading other peoples trip reports but I particularly enjoy seeing other peoples photos. My previous trip reports have read more like a diary so I thought I would try something different this time!!

Travel Arrangements and Hotels
We travelled across by P& O ferry on Sunday 17th December. Some of you might have seen my requests for advice about ferries since P&O had markedly increased their prices with the demise of SeaFrance. I was quoted £124 instead of the original £68 when I was doing the research, I eventually managed to get a Forces Discount (I’m in the RAF) and paid £89. We left home at 0800 and stopped for a few essentials at Ashford Tesco. We were booked on the 1205 sailing but we were put on the earlier 1110 sailing which was an added bonus. The sailing was pleasant and I can’t recommend highly enough taking the ferry. For us it is a nice break in driving from home to Paris. We have looked at the benefits of using the Chunnel but it would have cost us around £170 which didn’t make it a viable alternative! The journey from Calais to DLRP was straight forward and we arrived at the Kyriad at around 1700.

I planned it so that we spent our first night at the Kyriad so that we could make the maximum usage out of the 3 nights/4 days package. It meant that we got up early on the Monday, drove the short distance to the Cheyenne, booked in and got our tickets for opening. I also booked the Kyriad for the Thursday night so that we could use the whole of Thursday and travel home on the Friday. We used to travel on the first and last day which meant that we effectively lost a whole day!!

The Kyriad is a lovely hotel. This I the third time we have stayed here and each time we have found the rooms clean and comfortable. The fact that it has bunk beds is the major pull and the internet special price of €71 per night (room only) helped!! We were put in rooms 51 on Sunday and 48 on Thursday which are just off the reception area but the noise was only in the background and did not affect the family from sleeping. I would recommend the Kyriad wholeheartedly.

The next morning was pretty chilly!!

This is my 6th time at DLRP and the 5th time we have stayed in the Cheyenne. The biggest reason is the bunk beds because DD at 9 and DS at 5 would not sleep in a double bed together without the major hassle it would entail and there is no way we could sleep with the kids (fidget bums!!!) Once again the room was clean and comfortable. It is more than adequate for the amount of time you spend in there!!! We love the theming and the Wild West feel of the whole hotel, from the reception, to the hotel blocks with the Wild West names down to the boot lampshade and the cowboy wallpaper and tiles.
The reception was not too busy on our arrival but there was only 2 people working which meant a small delay. Once we had been furnished with our passes we were told our room was ready, at 0800 in the morning….bonus!!
We made our way across to the Annie Oakley and I made the kids wait outside while I went in and ‘took photos’ when in actual fact I placed Mickey and Minnie on their beds with some chocolate coins. They were delighted that Mickey had been in and left them a welcome present!

Once we were unpacked it was off to the Park.

oh, how sweet. I'm thinking of a little present from Mickey to, but I probably won't be able to keep my kids from rushing into the room. :goodvibes

what a great excuse, you going in first to "take photos" :goodvibes.

Great start, and what a lovely idea to put the gifts on their beds :lovestruc
