Peter Pan with ECV

I read on another thread that the walkway for Peter Pan cannot be stopped for boarding. How does this work for someone on an ECV? My dad will be using on for our upcoming trip. He can walk short distances, but is unsteady due to severe neuropathy and paralysis of his left foot, so I'd be nervous that he could trip trying to walk onto the moving walkway. Of course I can hold his arm to help, but is there another way to make boarding easier for him? Thanks!

With that situation, I would strongly suggest skipping Peter Pan. It is listed by Disney as “Must be ambulatory."
The moving walkway can’t be stopped or even slowed and because the area is small, you would not be able to bring the ECV close to make his walking distance shorter.
I have heard various reasons for not stopping the walkway; one is that since guests are suspended up in the air in the ride for almost the entire time, they don’t want to have guests inside get anxious if the boats stop. The other reason has to do with the switch from your boat being on the ground to going up in the air to fly.

The time available for boarding and getting off is pretty short, so you really do need to be fast to get on and off. There is also very little time to get settled and then to recover from getting on before it’s time to get out. Because of that, we no longer ride with DD. The last time we rode, DH almost ran out of time to get out with her and would have run into a wall.

If you really want to try it, I would suggest watching the board and unload process for a while to get a feel for how quickly it goes (unload is the part people forget about, but it is often harder to do than loading).

Also, you MAY be able to ride the first ride in the morning or the last ride before closing. Cheshire Figment had checked with a supervisor and was told that they will sometimes stop the moving walkway at either of these 2 times of day for guests with disabilities to ride.
