Peter Pan vs Finding Nemo for 2yo

I am in need of some last-minute advice befpre we go to DLR on Monday:

My family of 5 includes kids 9, 6, and 2. The 9 and 6 year-olds want to hit Finding Nemo and as per Hydroguy and Ridemax and numerous others, we plan to be there early and hit it right away.

My question is: Will the toddler enjoy that over Peter Pan (my first-attraction alternative for him). We are 1st-time DLR-ers and have been to WDW a few times. I know he will enjoy Peter Pan, just not sure about Nemo as a ride. He loves the character, so I'm torn.

Anyone have any advice?

I would head to Peter Pan at park open and then go to Finding Nemo and request to use the observation room. This is a room that allows you to see everything that you experience on the ride, but without actually going on the sub or standing in a long line. This is perfect in case your 2 yr old decides that they are going to act up, as you typically have the room to yourself and you don't have to battle the lines or deal with the potential for claustrophobia.

Peter Pan gets my vote. We went last October, my sons were 2y2m, 4y2m, and 8y6m. The youner two hated the Nemo ride. Didnt know there was an observation room, may have to check that out next time.

I agree. Nemo would be a little too long for a 2 yr. old. Peter lines fill up fast so I would definately go there first.

I took my DS3 and DS2 on Nemo first thing, and although they did enjoy it, my vote would be for Peter Pan. That way you can head to FL and hit the rest of the rides in the AM as well.

Nemo is cute, but for the little ones, it is kind of loud and it is dark (well... darker than the outside but still able to see), and hard to see out of the portholes very well for someone who doesn't necessarily "get" the submarine concept.

My 2 year, 10 month old was terrified of Nemo. He thought we were really going under the water, and cried that he wanted to "get out".

Just talk to the CM at the wheelchair entrance, and they'll let you right on.

Just a little warning about the Nemo observation room - it's really just like watching a movie and takes away the full effect of the subs. So, your older kids probably wouldn't enjoy it near as much as doing the actual ride. I would save Nemo for later in the evening for the older kids and plan something else for the 2 yo during that time.

This is so subjective per child, imo. When we took our boys to WDW for their first trip, they were 2 1/2 and 5. At the time, Snow White was one of my oldest sons favorite movies, and we took him on that first. OMG....big mistake, he was terrified. So, we thought, why not a nice soothing ride on Peter Pan to reset the mood?

That was the last dark ride we got him on for the entire trip. He wouldn't even get on Buzz Lightyear (who was his HERO) because we had to walk inside. The fact that the ride takes you up in the air can be just as scary as the fear of going under water. Just try to determine the personality of your kids, and listen to them. If they express fear, I think it is better to let them skip a ride or two than to talk them in to one, only to have them freaked out about the rest of them for your trip!

BTW, the 2 1/2 year old? Absolutely fearless. He marched into every dark place and laughed at every popping witch and heffalump and pirate. The only time he got upset was when they wouldn't let him on BTMRR, because of his size. He saw those roller coaster cars racing along and wanted on so bad! It is really unique for each child.

As far as the rides themselves, we adore PP. My oldest warmed up to it when he was about 8. We had the chance to try Nemo on our last trip, and while the adults thought it was surprisingly enjoyable, the boys (now 11 and 13) thought it was terribly boring and couldn't wait to get off. They were horrified when I suggested we ride again! I would always pick PP first, because it is one of those "can't be missed."

I vote peter pan first That line gets long FAST!!

As for Nemo, would you be willing to split up for the nemo ride??? The line for both the submarine and observation room is the same until you get to the boarding que. You can have one parent take the older kids on the sub and then take the 2 year old in the observation room.. This way you would all wait in line together and the older ones get to experience the submarine while the little one will get to "see" the attraction without actually having to get in the sub.. I have done that when my sister comes with us. She is claustrophobic and cannot ride the subs. We all wait in line together and she goes off to the observation room line. We have a designated meeting spot outside of the ride to wait for whoever finishes the ride last.

As I was the one to suggest the Observation Room originally, I would also vote for splitting up for the ride. Have one parent take the older two on the subs for real. But, have the other parent take the little one on Peter Pan and then head over to Nemo for the Observation Room.

There is no need to wait in line for the Observation Room. Just tell a CM that you want to use it and they will escort you to where you need to go. I see no point in making a 2 year old wait in line when you don't have to. There will be enough other things that they will have to wait patiently for without standing in line unnecessarily!

We will also be kind of in this situation in october... well my son will be 1 year and 9 months but I am debating on whether or not to take him on nemo. Does anyone know exactly how long nemo is? He loves the character nemo but I dont know if he will like the ride so maybe we will also have to try the observation room too.

I would say hit the PP ride first, and then hit Nemo.
let him warm up to the idea of rides.

my 3yr old loves both. and she was 1 1/2 yrs old on her 1st trip to DL.

Same for us... 2 able bodied adults and a baby. No wait time whatsoever. We asked at the line entrance about the Observation Room and they walked us right over and we were in the room in less than 5 minutes.

Totally with DangerMouse on this one (as is often the case when reading this board!) - Peter Pan is always FIRST! We will probably not be going back on Nemo - my girls thought it was BORING (and me being claustrophobic, I am happy with them not wanting to go on it again). For a 2 year old, the ride was definitely too long - that would go for whether or not the line is long or short.

Our little one is almost 4 and she's been on it countless times. Even as early as 2mo. =)
