Trip dates: April 13-19

Cast:
Tall guy-- my handsome husband who I can spot in any crowd because of his height

Short guy - 7 year old version of tall guy- harder to spot but easy to hear

Photo gal- me- the woman with the camera permanently attached to her face

Hotel: Animal Kingdom Lodge

Pre-trip -- 2 days before we left Denver had a major snowstorm that dumped 30 inches of snow in my yard. Glad it hit before we left-- the airport had to be closed for a day.

April 13- due to cheap tickets, we had a full day of travel because of a layover in Dallas. We arrived and used Tiffany towncar service (WONDERFUL) to get to our hotel.

Upon arrival all we could say was WOW! The sounds, the smells, the sights, fantastic! Check-in was quick and easy even though they were training the CM who was checking us in. Great room! we overlooked the Sunset Savanah (4268) and it was full of animals! Apparently the Waterbucks are in rut and the male kept picking fights with Nyala. We overlooked a watering hole so we saw about everything from our balcony. I had been worried about our room because we have stayed in concierge the last few times at WDW and hoped we wouldn't be let down-- not let down at all! Rooms were a little smaller but I still loved it and still had plenty of room for everything! Plus, we didn't look at another set of rooms-- we did see the keepers pens but even those were obscured with trees and such. Just a note: if you want to see zebra's -- stay on the arusha savanah-- they never came to our side.

Well, we unpacked and decided to eat at Boma's. Wonderful place. Not your run of the mill buffet. It was fun to try some of the African food! My son even branched out from his normal macaroni and cheese and tried some new stuff. Overall-- very good. Zebra domes are awesome!

We went and did tne night vision goggle thing after dinner. Short guy loved this!

Then it was off to bed becaus of an early morning the next day.

Thursday, April 14 --
Off to Epcot! Grabbed a quick breakfast and hopped a bus. Made it to Epcot just in time for the opening ceremony (this was great!). The crowds were realy light so short guy got to meet Mickey, Donald, and he had a great time playing with Captain Hook! Short guy did the tick-tock thing and Captain Hook engaged in a pretend battle! Loads of fun!

Off to Test Track-- we didn't do this last time we were at the world because short guy was too little-- he loved it! Got fast pass to do it again later and headed over to Mission Space. Tall guy didn't want to hurl (he can't spin) and short guy didn't want to go because of tall guy not going, sooo we just took some neat photo's and looked at the gift shop.

Wonders of life was closed. None of the cast was interested in doing the Universe of Energy (did it last trip), so we went over to the Living Seas. Turtle Talk with Crush was awesome-- short guy was picked to talk with Crush-- much fun! Enjoyed looking at tanks and also met Nemo and some coral outside.

The Land was closed. Went to Imagination. Rode Journey with Figment-- pleasant enough. Did the Honey I Shrunk the Audience. Then spent some time emailing photo's to grandparents and to cousins (who are in Japan) in the Imageworks lab.

Wondered into WS and went to Harry Ramsden for some yummy fish and chips! When we were done we happened to catch the World Showcase Players and loved the show! Rubbish :goodvibes

Walked the WS-- grabbing ice cream along the way. Did a few of the Kidcot stops.

Caught Test Track again. Wondered back to Innoventions. Had a blast! Short Guy made a plastic robot - that he was able to keep! Did virtual bowling. Played on the computers. Short guy also learned how to make paper- which he got to keep and decorate! Played a home fire safety game. Sent some more photo emails. Had a great time!

Left to catch our PS at Coral Reef. Short guy was getting tired- so we thought we might skip Illuminations, but he perked up after dinner, so we decided to stay. Found an okay spot near showcase plaza and watched the show. They had changed a few things since we last saw it (2001) so it was neat to watch. Still love the music! It was an EMH night at Epcot but we were beat, so we went to catch our bus.

Overall-- not crowded at all this day! We managed to do everything easily. Bus service was fine. Food was good. CM were great! Saw some of our fav characters! Walked a zillion miles!

What is this? We're not staying at AKL, but will be at Boma for dinner. Great trip reports - thanks!

Great report! Thanks for sharing we will be there (AKL) in 2 days :cheer2: :cheer2:

From one Coloradan Disney lover to another, hi. Thanks for the report, looking forward to the rest. We leave in less than 5 weeks, I am so excited.

I wish I could stay there!!! Can't wait for the rest of your report! Please share some photos too!!! We love photos! :earboy2:

The goggle thing was at 9p I think? You need to go out to the end of Arusha rock area. There will be CM's there to help you. Enjoy your dinner!

Did you say you met some coral?

Yeah-- It's kind of hard to explain but outside of the Living Seas in Epcot they have a "character" of sorts that looks like a coral reef. They make poping noises. The person is on stilts so they are tall.
