I know everyone on this board has been brainwashed by Disney, but even this multi-media giant can’t change the simple truth that Peter Pan is the real villain and Captain Hook the hero. It makes for a better story (and easier to sell merchandise) if we loathe the pirate, and cheer for the fun loving boy. However, don’t be fooled by Disney’s biased interpretation of the facts.

Hear me out.

As the story begins, we know very little about the history between the little green menace, and the good Captain. What we do know is that Peter once chopped off Hook’s hand and fed it to the crocodile. Even Disney’s one-sided story telling doesn’t provide a justification for this horrific act. And what justification can there be? At this point, Hook doesn’t know where Peter lives, and Peter can fly. Consequently, if there was a confrontation, it had to be initiated by Peter. The good Captain is incapable of hunting down the flying Peter Pan and threatening him in any fashion. The only conclusion to be made is that Peter sought out the Captain, picked a fight, and chopped Hook’s hand off.

Peter Pan is guilty of: Assault with a Deadly Weapon

Next what does Peter do? He feeds the Captain’s hand to the crocodile, so the crocodile will forever chase and try to kill Hook.

Peter Pan is guilty of: Conspiracy to commit murder. (Conspiring with the crocodile)

Now as the story begins, Peter waits for Mr. and Mrs. Darling to leave the house, and then takes 3 children from their beds to a far off land. Don’t be fooled. Disney spins this set of facts so it doesn’t look criminal. While Neverland may be a cool place to go, Peter has no right.

Peter Pan is guilty of: Kidnapping 3 counts.

While on his way to Neverland, Peter leaves Wendy, Michael and John in the care of Tinkerbell, and instructs her to take the kids to the island. Of course Tink tries to have the Lost Boys kill the kids and almost succeeds. First, if Tinkerbell is your friend, you are guilty by association. Second, leaving the kids in Tinkerbell’s care is nuts.

Peter Pan is guilty of: Endangering the welfare of a minor. 3 counts

Now I know some of the things Hook does next don’t look so good. But the man had his hand chopped off. What is he supposed to do? There’s no police station on Neverland. The mermaids aren’t going to help him get justice. Someone has to stop this one man crime spree. Does the Captain go a little too far in his attempts stop Pan? Perhaps, but someone has to hold the flying felon accountable.

So the story ends with Peter Pan throwing Hook overboard to be eaten by the crocodile.

Peter Pan is guilty of: Attempted Murder

Peter then steals the Captain’s ship. There is no justification for this. He and Tink can make all the kids fly if they wished. But no, Pan would rather steal a very valuable ship and use it as his own.

Peter Pan is guilty of: Grand theft boat

These are the facts, minus the Disney spin. Disney knows everyone wants to root for the winner, so they make Peter the lovable character. I can summarize the story in one line: Captain Hook wants justice, while Peter Pan’s crime spree knows no bounds. Believe what you want to believe. The truth is:

CAPTAIN HOOK IS THE HERO, AND PETER PAN IS THE VILLAIN.

(I have too much free time on my hands.)

8 Days to Disney and I am so excited. OFF TO NEVERLAND.

You either:

1) Are a lawyer;
2) Are a law student that took the bar this week and is still way too wound up and in desperate need of a drink;
3) Are a a criminal law professor testing out ideas for a finals question for next year;
4) Have seen Wicked one too many times; or
5) Are Gregory Maguire and you are testing out ideas for your newest book.

Whichever you are, that was amusing- although we will still be siding with Peter and Tink at our house. :)

Love it.

The last time we watched PP, I found myself horrified by PP himself. Tinkerbell, too. It was during the time that people were going on about Up and if it's a "kid's movie" (answer = NO, no Pixar film is a "kid's movie", they are simply good movies that use animation), and I sat there watching this old, a more innocent time, "kid's movie" just grossed out.

Especially at how we were supposed to cheer when a man is sent off to a terrifying death in the sea in the jaws of a crocodile.

Ask me how I feel about the good vs bad guys in POTC....:rolleyes1

:rotfl: That was funny! I like Captain Hook much better than Peter Pan... and who doesn't love Smee?! 'Course, I like the crocodile the most out of all of them!! :laughing:

That was great! You had some very good points and actually had me going. Although, I think I am still gonna have to side with my boy, Peter.

Ha! That's pretty good and true if you ask me! I need to watch that movie again. I persoanally think tic toc is the hero!!

Wow, I just loved that!! i have had a long standing crush on Captain Hook for years!! It's about time somebody told the other side of the story!:rotfl:

This was a fun read! I'm glad it showed up on my screen so I could read it. Too fun!

I have... ever since Hook showed up on Once Upon a Time! Swoon! LOL

Wow, I wrote that over 6 years ago. Wonder how it landed on your screen?

Since Disney raised the price of an annual pass through the roof, I haven't been in a very "Disney" frame of mind. Told the family our next trip (using APs bought before the price surge) will be our last for a long while. But reading that post reminded me how much I love all things Disney. Thanks!!!

That was a great read. Upon thinking about it, the part about feeding his hand to the Croc just shows how deeply disturbed and psychotic Peter is. I mean...isn't it enough he chopped off his hand? But then he feeds it to a wild animal? Great observations!

That's funny! I never noticed the date, but it caught my eye. It was one of the 'advertised' threads at the bottom of the screen. I'm glad I could help! :)
