My favorite part of the Wii would have to be the downloadable "old school" games.

Fans of 2d scrolling platform games shouldn't give up hope for new games though. Check out the new download release on the 360/PS3 "Bionic Commando: Rearmed" Its a remake/re-imagining of the original done VERY well. "Braid" came out a couple of weeks ago also and it is the most original/mind bending 2D platformer I've played. To top things off a new Mega Man game is coming soon!

What a great thread!! It's nice to see that there some of my fellow Dis'ers are gamers like me! Granted with a six-year-old in the house it's quite difficult to get game time in. Especially when she's getting as addicted to the Wii and DS like me. I'd love to hear what games Pete's into. I, myself, love FF and Kingdom Hearts. (sound like we have a lot in common Becx N Gav!!!)
Since I got my Wii there is a Mario resurgence in the house! Super Mario Galaxy is sweet!! We are also fans of the Wii Mariokart and have been playing a lot of the Mario/Sonic 2008 Bejing Olympic game. sooo fun. Anyway, wanted to express my gratitude for starting a gamer thread! Play on.

PS1, PS2, PSP, Xbox, Xbox 360, SNES, N64, Wii (Maybe buying a gamecube too) and DS as well as PC but don't play that as much.

Favourite games: GH 1-3 & On Tour, Rock Band, Burnout series, NFS series, the original Tony Hawk games (PS1/PS2), Skate, Zelda (Wii + DS), Mario Kart, all the Mario games, Sonic The Hedgehog (The original 2d version), Halo 1-3, Lego Indiana Jones and Elite Beat Agents. Theres also 20-billion more games I love, but I can't think of them right now.

I love gaming so much I'm going to uni for 3 years to become a developer.

I am, gladly, a gaming geek.

My husband and I play WoW, we have for quite some time. But with my 2year old it's hard for me to even think about playing anymore. I played the others from above for awhile as well a long time ago before I had my DD. I also played a old 2d game called The Realm which believe it or not is still around also played Everquest and EQ2 briefly. Recently tried Age of Conan but that went to the birds quickly I didn't like it. My next venture is Warhammer Online.

So as you can see we are big MMO people in this house.

You going to buy GH on DS?? I am thinking about it since i don't have a console that will support it so the DS might be a good option for me (as i already have one of those!), but i want some reviews first!

We are a gaming family too! We have all of the game systems plus DS's and PSP's. DH & I used to stay up until the wee hours of the night playing Counterstrike, BF2, and going head-to-head with Alien vs. Predator. I love the old school games and have a little place in my heart for Mario, Frogger, Donkey Kong, & Pac-Man (where it all started for me). Currently plugging through Fear (game gives me the heepie-jeepies), I long for the days when SWG first game out and prior to the CU and DH just finished up another Half-Life. Looking forward to Star Wars Unleashed coming out for the Wii because we already have our lightsaber attachment ready to go!!!!

The add on comes with the game itself - there is no other way to play it and it doesn't work with any other games.

But my friend purchased it and let me tell you - it's pretty bad. You have to hold the DS in a very strange manner and strumming takes a lot of getting used to. I am a veteran of every Guitar Hero and Rock Band and I couldn't get the hang of strumming up and down on it... The best music game on the DS is Elite Beat Agents - totally unique and only possible on the DS.

I'm psyched because of the new Duran Duran and Devo tracks released this week for Rock Band... "Her name is Rioooooooooo and she dances on the sand."
Any other RB fans out there? I finally modded a real drum bass pedal to use with it a couple of weeks ago and it made a world of difference.

Another gamer here. Let's see, I own an Xbox 360, PS3, PS2, Wii, Gamecube, NES, N64, DS, and a PSP. I play pretty much everything except for RPGs, I can't stand them, which will probably offend a lot of people in this thread!

Big fan of the Guitar Hero series, and Rock Band as well. Mostly a fan of shooters and sports games, though.

Any other RB fans out there? I finally modded a real drum bass pedal to use with it a couple of weeks ago and it made a world of difference.

I love the game but am awful at it, lol. I am doing good to get past the super rookie levels but as a former drummer (a long time ago) I don't doubt that I could keep up with Andy Taylor (old school Duran Duran). Can't wait for the DD tracks!!

I still play NR2002 from time to time. I played it every day for the two years I had it. I was terrible at designing my own cars, but downloaded a lot of templates.

I must agree that guitar hero on the ds is not as good as it could be. It's only painfull to play because youre supporting the ds at the same time and that you need perfectly sized hands to reach all the buttons comfortably.

I love love love guitar hero and rock band immensly and now that I have xbox live back might download some track packs!

thought I should give Wall E on the DS a go, and you know what, it's pretty good, a puzzle game rather than action, better than it's bigger brother by all accounts too, plus I get to compact trash into cubes
