Pete we need to show Disney our fan powers!!

I see a market for "D23 = Bad idea" t-shirts....let's say a lime green color? :) Can you imagine Disney's response seeing them all around the parks?

I am almost certain they opened that new T-shirt store in DTD in response to the homemade custom T-s on the DIS. I am sure customers were asking where they could get theirs and WDW wanted in on it. I bet CMs would get lots of questions about What is D23 and why is it a bad idea? :rotfl:

I am in for a letter, but I really do think WDW has a thing or two to learn from the DIS.

1. I am hesitant to join anything with online content from Disney. All of their websites are [can't think of a bad enough word to describe how inadequate they are]a waste of time. They have tried get some DISboards action too(Disney Moms Panel forum)- kind of a frustrating site as well IMO.

2. DIS/Dreams know how to treat their users and customers and keep them happy. I think the CMs are lovely- but the corporation as a whole is kind of clueless about how to make people feel loyal.

I'm in...are we going to draft a general letter for all to use? so we're all saying the same thing? or just our own letter of discontent?

Just went to check facebook...there's a D23 group that already has 449 suckers (I mean members)...WE need an Just say No to d23 group!

I'm in too - and I am going to make sure in my letter that I note - "Please do not tell me this is due to guest or fan demand"

As an ex Magic Kingdom club ex Disney Club member I am so upset at this joke of a club I emailed already but will also send out some letters this weekend

I would be happy to send a letter. However, I am going to state that I love the idea of the club, but don't think there's enough "bang for my buck."

I was a part of the letter writing campaign to save Pleasure Island and the Adventurer's Club. Although it did not stop the change, I think that it did make an impact. There's so many rumors that PI and/or AC will come back in some shape or form. Who knows if that'll really happen. I do know that I received a phone call from an assistant of a bigwig at Disney from my letter on it.

I'll send a letter along with D23 opinions and changes I think need to be made. Still, I'm also leaning towards joining the group and I think anyone who does should be treated with respect. Sorry, I am not a "sucker" nor any less intelligent because I might want to join.

Maybe it's time to stage some form of non-violent protest to show Disney how those of us who feel prices are getting too high how we feel.

It would be ideal if we could stage a protest outside the gates of Disney but I doubt we could get enough people together at one time to do it - and it really wouldn't reflect the entire fan base.

What about an old-fashioned letter writing campaign? What if we all sat down and put together a one page letter to Mr. Iger that expresses our displeasure in what we perceive as a lack of respect for the avid Disney Fan who is a repeat visitor to their theme parks.

I don't think it should be emails. Emails are too readily disposable but I think a ton of physical letters written with passion, respect and ideas for improvement will get their attention. I also think that if you have an Annual Pass you should copy it and include it with your letter - what a very powerful statement that would make.

Anyone interested?

I like this idea. I wonder if they keep the envelopes for each letter as we do in our office (or the secretary just chucks them, as they do in some) -- I think it would speak volumes just to see the number of different states and countries represented in this letter-writing campaign.

Let's not classify anyone who chooses to join D23 in a negative way. They feel that it is something they want to be a part of and something they think will have value to them.

No name calling please.

Thanks
John

It's too bad we couldn't create a postcard or something that simply said something like "This postcard represents one person that refuses to join D23 until you give us something worth paying $75!" Sending a postcard is much cheaper than sending an envelope and then you could send one for each person in your family.

If we really want this to have an impact we should get as many people involved as possible. I will mention it on the next show but you all should go out and mention it on the other DISboards you frequent.

Please do not post about it on just any of the DISboards - only go to the ones you post on yourself. Just one post about it and then maybe a link pointing them to this thread for details would be fine.

A couple observations. The letter writing idea is wonderful, especially in this day of e-mail and text messages, sending a physical piece of paper has an impact. Yes, it is easier for there to be text for you copy in your letter or a form postcard or letter. The impact of 20 or 200 letters which all say the same thing is not as strong as receiving letters which convey the same thoughts but are not form letters that someone just signs and mails. I am not saying that the form letters do not have impact, just that in comparison to the same volume of letters which convey similar thoughts but were individually composed, the unique letters make a stronger impression.

I like the idea of having a sample letter that people can build off of. Does anybody have some time to put a sample together? I can try tomorrow if we want to do one like that.

We katscradle/3guysandagal are interested in responding with a letter/s
to disney. You can count us in on this one John, we are behind you.

Just wanted to say I'm happy my posting has developed into helping everyone getting together and organize this letter writing campaign. :goodvibes

I'm definetly in... the problem is... I'm not someone that go to the parks that frequently, when I lived in Peru I went once a year (for a week and half, for about 8 years), now that I live in Italy to me going to WDW is just lots of ££ and $$$, I would love also if they would consider international DIsney fans. Can I still join in (for the letter, I mean)???

They don't even read the unique letters. I sent a letter complaining about mannequins and 8-trax and they sent me back a letter talking about how unique the AC is bla bla bla. I didn't even mention AC in my letter.

But I still strongly encourage this idea.

You never know, just because you received a form letter back, doesn't mean they don't read unique letters, maybe they do, but don't send back unique responses. Can you imagine the staff it would take to write responses to every letter? I could be totally wrong, but I think unique letters might have more of an impact, even if they only read half or a third of them. It think it says something nowadays when someone takes the time to sit down and write a letter.
