Hi everyone,
Just wanted to give a shout out to Pete, hope you see this/someone gets it to you, saying good luck with your new sobriety count.
I've been sober from all drugs and alcohol since March 19, 1990, and I can say that I wouldn't trade anything in the universe for having that monkey off my back forever. I was in AA for the first three years, heavily, and then slowly backed out of it. It's been about seven years now that I've had any contact with AA, but I have many other things that I do to maintain my sobriety via my spiritual practice, which is primarily Insight (Vipassana) Buddhist meditation. That's just been my path, there are MANY paths to take to get where you need to be (and don't let anyone tell you otherwise - always follow and trust your own sober instincts!).
One of the reasons I fell in love with Disney World vacations is there is NOT a big focus on drinking. Most beach and resort destinations, drinking is basically it for activities, unless you're into sports, which as a fellow fluffy spaz I can assure you I'm not.
Anyways, if you would ever like to PM me, and anyone else reading this who is struggling with addiction, I'm happy to talk about my experience.
