I saw it Sat -- I still like Wrath as my fav ... but they did a smart thing...
(spoiler in white text)
now they can make it up as it goes... reboot indeed

part of me liked it a lot and part of me was very disappointed

spoilers in white below
so basically the enemy was the captain of a mining ship...and he goes back in time and.....waits and waits...and waits for 25 years??? are you telling me the mining ship is so well armed it takes out a dozen ships, has enough supplies for 25 years and everyone else on the ship thought waiting around 25 years just to rub it into spocks face made sense??? not to mention the entire time travel thingie has been soooooo played out over the years..okay end rant, the movie was honestly a blast and definitely look forward to adding it to my collection when it hits dvd

;)

I was never really a Star Trek movie fan, I was more of a fan of Next Generation(mostly because of my age). With that said I really enjoyed this movie alot, so did my wife who is about as anti Star Trek as they come.

I'm a trek nut, well, OK, an original Trek nut. (Didn't care for Next Gen, DS9, and uh, what was that other one with the lady captain?) ;) I DID like Enterprise though, which surprises most I talk too!

Anywho, I loved, loved, loved the new movie! The story, the cast, interaction, all of it. Hoping they follow up with another, and man, I'd love to see a TV show come out based on it. (Either that, or bring back Enterprise)!

I have to say the casting was dead on .. Bones McCoy was my favorite w/Uhura a close second.. but Chekov was quite annoying and had too much screen time.

Hehe, I agree with Bones. Even his look was really good, and the voice, acting etc., yeah, spot on. The casting on this was great!

ageed the casting was excellent, Bones was brilliant and indeed Chekov had too much screen time. I wish they had been able to give Scotty a bigger role and more time and a little less campy.

yeah Scotty was over the top .. but he was over the top in every episode and movie he did .. I knew it couldnt be a ST movie w/o venturing into the time continuum..:rolleyes1

I liked the Chekov character and how they showed his amazing physics knowledge. The wessel line gave a nice nod to STIV

I agree, although I think part of that was just Simon Pegg's personality. If you've seen him in other movies, that's kind of who he is. Also, it's weird they chose to get an English actor to play a Scot...but I was happy to see him in it. We find him hilarious in everything he does.

Just saw it today and too felt that casting was done well. The thing that threw me was the "Uhura love interest" (don't want to spoil) aspect.

I thought it was done well with a few holes but a worthy movie for sure!
