Pete’s Rant about Gay Days

Greetings All,

While on Google looking for a gay day Anaheim web page this was in the first few results. http://www.wdwinfo.com/disney-gay-days.htm

I had never seen this or read about it, but it sure makes some really good points. It will be interesting to see how the gay days at Anaheim turn out. Although much smaller then Florida, they are expecting over 30,000.
Not sure what to expect now.

That post is SEVERAL years old, and even Pete has said it's out-dated and that he hasn't actually been to Gaydays. A LOT of the stuff he talks about just isn't the case (any more).

Pete and I have debated this topic extensively.. he has some very valid points in some areas of the argument that I completely agree with.

Overall, I can very clearly see and agree with some underlying points..

I don't completely agree with everything he's written, in fact I strenously disagree with some points..

We're still friends tho.

I am not sure I should even post, but I am a person who goes to the source if I am upset with something. I have done that many times on the Dis and sometimes there is an answer that makes me feel better.

The only thing , in my eyes, is to take it down and write an appology.

We should not be calling names within our own community. Period.

How can you make that right?

Besides i am still waiting on hearing if the DIS donated anything to PBS.......

I disagree with about 99% of what Pete says in that message. He made only a couple of valid points re: behavior, but much like any other situation with respect to groups in general, you see what's in your face and are blind to what's not. There are thousands upon thousands of gay men and lesbians that head to WDW during Gay Days. It's very much the minority that would express the behavior Pete describes in his article.

I would absolutley hate to think that heterosexual families would make educated planning decisions based upon one man's opinions.

All that being said, just because we're gay or lesbian doesn't mean we have to agree on everything. That would be ridiculous! Nice, but ridiculous nonetheless. We are family, but even families fight.
