So we are staying at the POP CENTURY and I thought I would check out the bar at the pool. Nothing like having a frozen drink pool side! :cool1: Looked at the prices :scared1: OH MY GOD $9.50!! Are the "souvenir cups" refillable at a discount? I know when we were downtown disney 2 years ago they did that, so you don't mind. But if it is going to be $9.50 for every drink, I won't and I am sure many others will not be buying them.:sad2:

Welcome to WDW :). You're a captive audience & things are priced accordingly. If it's any consolation the drink prices at WDW are positively cheap in comparison the drink prices in Manhattan :rotfl:.

Seriously, we just put it down to the whole "we're on vacation" thing & rolled with it. I thoroughly enjoyed my 9$ Glowtini with dinner most nights & that was the important part.

But...if you're staying at POP I'd like to make a suggestion. Buy a refillable mug & fill with a coke slushie. They sell Captain Morgan's Spiced Rum in the gift shop. Add rum to slushie & presto, instant frozen drink perfect for poolside. Plus the mug is intended to be refillable so you can use it for the length of your stay, filling it up at POP with everything from coffee to soda, and not have to pay out of pocket again because you've already purchased the mug.

Have a great trip! We loved POP and plan to go back in the fall.

The souvenier cups are little plastic kiddie cups. We brought beer and wine with us and only had a couple of drinks at the Petals pool bar. They are expensive but a nice change from wine.

I really never thought the drink prices were too over the top expensive-:confused3 You're at WDW-everything is expensive.
I like the suggestion of the refill mug and adding the booze seperate.:thumbsup2
But, I really love the pina colada's-and the $$ I'm saving by staying at POP makes up for what I have to pay for the froo-froo drinks that I love!:rotfl:
Have a great trip!

THis must be why we zip up to the liquior store and buy my margarita fixings and keep them in our room. I bring a shaker and make my own margaritas on the rocks. Put them in a refillable mug and I'm good to go. DH usually picks up a case of beer. Much cheaper and I don't have to tip.

I had the Hula Hoop drink last year! Yummy! I will be following the advice of a previous poster and picking up some of the Captain this year! Great idea. :thumbsup2

Love the Captain Morgan's idea!!:thumbsup2 I will be picking some of that up for sure! What other mixes will be included in the refillable mug? Thanks again:woohoo:

When we were there in August they said they discontinued the souvenir cups

Add us to the list of people that BYO! :goodvibes
We pick up beer on the way in (we drive) and get the Mr. a bottle of whiskey. He mixes his in his refillable mug with coke from the food court, but I never thought of the Captain and Frozen Coke idea! Totally doing that this year!!!!! I enjoy some of the drinks at the restaurants and bars at Disney, but at POP, I'll just visit my cooler!

Thank you, thank you! After all of the wonderful information, advice & suggestions that I've gotten on the DIS I'm so glad that I could give something back :rotfl:.

Of course my tip would be booze related :lmao:.

As for other potential mixers that could be gotten via the refillable mug I found this on allears & copied it from POP's menu:

Fountain Drink Choices:

Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite, Fanta Orange, Minute Maid Apple Juice and Caffeine Free Diet Coke

Iced Tea

Icees: Cherry and Coke Flavors
.

This in no way means that I plan to forgo a GlowTini with dinner whenever possible (best souveiner ever...7 months after our trip & we're still drinking them at home).

Whenever I order a pool drink, I always ask for it to not be in the souvenir glass and they take $2.00 off of the price. ($7.50 instead of $9.50) I am not sure if this can be done at every resort, but I have had this done at the WL and at the Poly pool bars. :goodvibes
