No, not terms of endearment for your sweetheart.

For the animals in your house or yard.

Do they have typical “pet” names or “human” ones.

I’ve always chosen human names for my pets. Perhaps oddball or unusual choices, but human names nonetheless.

Currently I have a cat named Polly.

In the past there were:
Dogs: Daisy and Coleen
Parakeets: Chloe, Maude, Velma, and Mary Jane
Hamsters: Roger, Linus, Barbara, and a few others.
Even goldfish had human names.

DH has an aquarium with about 20 tropical fish and I think he named them all too. Polly cat sometimes stares but doesn’t bother them.

I have usually named my pets (during my adult life, not like during childhood) after science-y types of things. I had a green anole named Erlenmeyer, a cat named Bernoulli, and another cat named Antimony (though we called her Annie). We had friends who named their cat Schrodinger, and I always loved that!

My sister's cat is named Polly. Polly comes over here all the time which is nice as we no longer have any cats left.

Our cats were named
Kelly
Tiger
Pudgie
Kippie
Blondie
Snowflake
Everett
Bootsie

So we had a mixture of pet and human names.

Current cats: Patches (he's black and white) and Opie (orange tabby)
Previous cats: Pooh Bear, Ginger (orange) and Daisy (named her when I was 5 and thought she liked to smell daisies which were really weeds growing in our yard)

We’ve never gotten to name a pet as they’ve always come to us already named and we didn’t change the names. That said, we’ve had a mix of pet and human names: Queenie, Patchie, Boo Bear, Phoebe, and Oliver. I think if I were to pick, I’d go with the more pet vs human names but I may never get the chance

The pets I have had generally had/have human names.

White Pit- Keesha
Nanday Conure- Omar (came with the name)
Brother/Sister Yorkies- Jack and Daniel (my drink of choice back then. Had Jack for 16 years)
Lovebird- George
Dalmatian- Darrel (my dad called my DH “Darrel from Arizona” He’s David from MN😂)
Black Lab- Angus after Angus Young (Best dog I ever had)
American Singer Canary- Randy Rhoads
Aussie Shepard/Great Pyrenees (current)- Layla after the song

We never named our fish. We had many fish tanks and a backyard pond.

Human names here.

And although it's never planned from the start, our cats have always ended up with middle names as well.

We also have one cat with a different last name from ours. I don't remember how we came up with that one. And we only share this information with select friends and family. The vet's office thinks her last name is the same as mine. :ssst:

cats
oldest black shorthair Tippytail (she has a little white tip on the tail_
calico queen Missy (she had a different name but when I first got her she would come to me stop then spit so I got into the habit of calling her miss hissy spitty which softened to Missy or Missymoo if she is in a bad mood)
the three boys Midnight Mischief and Maccavity
the floofball rag doll Milo or floofy mcflooffloof
I have a white Sussex cockerel whom I am thinking of calling randy Andy as I now have 12 white Sussex chicks in a cage in the house

My cat died last night....Her name was Lucy. We now have a Ricky without a Lucy and we are devastated. She was old and gave us over 15 years of Lucy memories. We were laughing that we didn't go with "roller poster" which is what my two year old wanted to name her 15 years ago. We loved our Lucy.
