********UPDATE**************
I am sorry to keep you all waiting. I am touched by the support. The last 24 hours have been up and down with my emotions.
I will fill you in with Herbie as we currently stand. Please bear with me as we JUST got home from the emergency vet and I have had maybe a total of one hour of sleep while waiting the emergency lobby, dozing off and on.
So after my last update we took Herbie into the cities. It is about 2 hrs away so we didn't get there until around 6:00pm. The doctor tried to get a catheter in him and he could not do it either. It would only get the a certain point and would not go any farther.
His recommendation at this point was surgery. Without much of a choice we agreed but we had to drive Herbie to ANOTHER emergency vet hospital that had a surgeon who did the surgery.
We got over there about 10:00pm. At first he tried to catheterize him and he too had no luck.
He said surgery is our only opinion at this point. He decided to do Perineal Urethrostomy.
They started surgery around 11:30pm.
Unfortunately the problem was more sereve then thought. It turns out that he did not have stones that were blocking him but scar tissue.
See when I adopted Herbie he was mending a broken hind leg. They did not know how it happened as he was a stray.
Well all the vets I talked to last night believe he also suffered trauma to his pelvic area at the time he broke his leg. The vet said if he would guess he would think it was from a serve kick or a human stepped on him. That broke my heart
How can someone do that?!?!
Anyway, the vet did what he could do. He told me it is now just wait and see if the surgery was successful.
The surgeron said the prognosis is fair but complications are possible. Long term is 50/50
Right now he is at the 24 hr emergency vet hospital in the cities where they are keeping a close eye on him. These first few hours will be the most critical.
As to why this all started after the netured is anyone's guess. He had this problem all along and looking back he did have some small signs but I didn't catch them. (Guilt)
I saw Herbie after surgery and before we left the hospital. He looks miserable. My heart is breaking for my baby
I am so scared that the surgery will not be successful and I put him through all of this for no reason
THANK YOU all for your support. PLEASE keep Herbie in your thoughts and prayers/pixie dust. He definitely needs them!
I want my baby to live!!! He is JUST a baby kitten, he deserves a good life.
I will keep you updated as I find out information.
