Are pet loops noisy from the pets? We don't have any pets and wonder if we get put into one of these loops will it be noisy? Do the dogs bark alot? Are there other people there without pets too?

We have been in the pet and non pet loops and have found that the noise from those electric toy 4X4 trucks make way more noise than the dogs usually do. Most often the dogs are well behaved.

you are painting with a very wide brush on a totally random event. The population of the Fort changes day by day, so to say one loop is a noisier one vs another is an invalid hypothesis, and at best just a guest. The closer you are to the lake, the easier it is to hear the boat horns. That's the only constant one can assume.

As with anything in life, sometimes you will run across inconsiderate pet owners in the pet loops. Overall, though, the pet loops are probably not any noisier than non-pet loops. We had one trip where there was a small dog in the site across from us that barked at anything that moved. So, anytime someone walked by, or a golf cart came by, that dog barked. The owners would scream at the top of their lungs for the dog to "SHUT UP!" The screaming owners were more annoying than the dog. However, on another trip we were not in a pet loop, but were the neighbors of a couple from Canada who spent the whole trip sunbathing in their site. They sat out in the sun all day long, and had interesting taste in music, which they played at a volume so that all their neighbors could enjoy it. If I had to choose, I would have chosen the barking dog. BTW- I never saw anyone get as bright a shade of red as those folks did.

On all of the other occasions that we have stayed in pet loops, we have not had a problem, and, subjectively, it seems like pet owners are friendlier, and more likely to hang out around the campground.

Fortunately, negative experiences at the Fort are few and far between, and are really only minor annoyances compared to things that we all face out in the real world.

my experience - limited thought it may be......

i have never reserved a pet site as we don't bring our pet camping. i have however, twice been placed in a pet loop.

the first trip, you never would have known it was a pet loop unless someone told you. not only didn't we hear any pet noises, we didn't see any pets either. so being in a pet loop CAN be a non issue.

the 2nd trip (this past August) we didn't really hear the barking, but there was one nasty little ankle biter who was quite anti-social. everyone who passed their site (and you had to pass their site....they were right next to the path to the bathroom) got charged and the owners had to come out and grab the leash before he tore his spike out of the gound. if your dog is an anti-social bully, please either leave him in your camper, kennel him or leave him at home. he is scaring the pee out of my kids (and me.)

on that most recent trip, i also encountered a guest who was obvioulsy walking their dog (to releave itself) on the road thru the loop (as opposed to the path designated for that purpose behind the sites) and then leaving the "done duty" for others to either step in or drive over. nothing like chasing "that smell" around only to find that it is in not only your 2 year olds shoe treds but also in the treds of your golf cart. have fun scraping that out with a stick.

from now on, even if the CM on check in insists that she is "upgrading" me by sticking me in a pet loop (that came with premium features like cable, that i wasn't going to use anyway) - i will nicely decline and take whatever other sites in non-pet loops she might have available.

During our stays in feb. we often walk the loops..........

I must say....I wish it would rain more often in loop 300.............

Okay.... here's the poop (pardon the pun).

Even though there are designated pet loops, that does not mean pets aren't allowed on other loops. FtW is pretty much sticking people anywhere - pets or no pets. I even saw dogs in the 2000 loop this past weekend and they were on sites with tents only. (So much for the "dogs in trailers" rule.)

CM's are told never to confront a guest with a pet, regardless of where the pet is located. Even though the Disney Golf Cart rules (your cart or theirs) prohibits you from riding around with your dog on the cart, you're going to see a lot of dogs out for rides. Hell - it wouldn't surprise me to see a dog driving a cart some day!!

Thankfully in all the years I've camped at the Fort, I've been more disturbed by inconsiderate drunks than barking dogs. Only once did I ever have to call the front desk about a howling dog - and that was because the poor thing sounded so pitiful due to the fact he'd been left staked outside all day and was lonely. A CM came shortly thereafter & picked up the dog & took it to the kennel. That was back in 2000 - so I don't know if they would even do that anymore.

For those of you with dogs that you don't pick up after,,,,, beware of me!! I'm known for watching where your site is, picking up your dog's poop, and placing it where you'll be sure to step in it when you go outside in the morning!:scared1:

The Fort Wild Klub apologizes for being loud, not drunk.:lmao:

GREAT IDEAS. I have a pet, and always clean up after it. Nothing p***** me off more than stepping in pet leavings, then trying to figure where the smell is coming from. This happened at the fort a couple of months ago. My DS stepped in a huge pile of elephant poop ( either that or a muntant dog), and after discovering it, had to spend several hours digging it out of his shoes, then making sure it was moved to the proper container. I will be re-distrubiting the wealth back to the owner if I observe any not cleaning up after their pet.

I think I would go crazy if it was too quiet, I love the noise the sound of people having fun, kids playing, buses going by, toot of the boats and sometimes the Petty race cars zooming around if you took it away I might as well camp at the retirement home.
