Our adventure this weekend with our sick puppy has me wondering if there are any good pet insurance plans around. Although the main reason he was sick from taking our other dogs medication the Drs also noted that the contents of his stomach included foreign objects. We've accounted for some of the possiblities including parts of a shoe and a dolls fingers but certainly know that a truly puppy proof environment probably isnt' realistic. He's crated during the day but seems to still find plenty of things to get into when he's up and about.

The cost would have covered the 4 AP's I need for our next years Disney trip plus many extras. Probably not a bad thing to have some insurance coverage so at least there is a little help on the bills if it comes up.

This site should be able to help you (comparison of various insuurance). Even though the site is written mainly for NYC doggies, it's still informative.

I dont' have pet insurance, but seriously considering it. My dog is 8 years old though, and the premium costs a lot. Looks like I'm going to have to dish out tons of money either way.

I'm toying with it for our cats -- especially after a scare this weekend with Sienna. She has a small ulcer on her eye, but for a little bit there I was afraid we were going to go through Sage all over again. :(

I've got it on Max. It's about $9.95 or $11 a month AND WORTH IT! They do have more expensive plans, but I took the basic. It's through his vet...Banfield.

We purchased pet insurance with Veterinary Pet Insurance (www.petinsurance.com) after a scare with our oldest pup last year. We've got 2 dogs (8 & 9 years old) covered for about $50/month. It's worth every penny!

We have one pooch insured through www.petinsurance.com and I am so glad because he might need to have a cyst removed from his snout.

The other one is going to be added to the insurance as soon as we find out if my work is sponsoring metlife pet insurance

I don't have a pet yet, but it's going to be a necesity when I do finally get a dog. I checked out Pets Mart insurance and it seemed pretty good. It is cheeper when you start them out as puppies (or kitties) rather than waiting until your pet is older.

Thanks, lots to check on. I'm going to ask at the vets tomorrow when I go to get a refill of our older dogs medication. The petsmart probably isn't an option unless they let you use any vet. We've had the same ones for almost 20 yrs and they've always been great with our babies.
