We are looking at getting a dog soonish and one of DH's arguments AGAINST is that we travel a lot. But most of those places (our parents, siblings etc) are pet friendly as long as the dog is potty trained and vaccinated. Of course he has to throw in the "but what about Disneyland?" argument...So. Is there a hotel within walking distance that takes a non shedding, potty trained dog? We'd probably do the kennel club too since it's not expensive.

Thanks!

Do you have to bring the dog or could you just find a boarding place back home? That's what we do for vacation.

Anaheim Plaza, Residence Inn, Sheraton, and Raddison accept pups. Most state you cannot leave the dogs alone in the room.

The Hotel Indigo Anaheim (right next to GardenWalk). I believe they charge a pet fee of $100 per stay.

We used to bring our dog along with us to Disneyland and stayed at the Hilton Anaheim, but that hotel's since changed their policy and no longer accept pets; only service dogs.

While most, if not all hotels prohibit you from leaving your dog in the room unattended, my brother in law, who is in management at a major hotel chain explains that this is meant to deter dogs who bark nonstop or cause damage to the carpet or furniture (basically, act out) when left alone. If your dog is quiet and well behaved alone, it shouldn't be a problem or arouse notice.

That said, we've stopped bringing our dog with us to Disneyland. Realistically, you'll be spending most, if not the entire day in the park and leaving your dog very bored (and probably frustrated) in the room. While it might bring me comfort to have my dog waiting for me when I get back to the room, I came to the realization that the day must not have been fun for him. We now board our dog with a kennel that provides a lot of room and other dogs for him to run around and play. I miss him for those few days, but I know he's having fun -- like his own little vacation.

Sheraton Anaheim on Ball rd. Dogs stay free with AAA card. Its about 1.2 mile walk but we usually don't walk it. We take our dogs on the hotel shuttle and tip the driver handsomely ;). Never had any issues. Our dogs, boxer and shih tzu, are well mannered and friendly to everyone and the drivers love to see us due to the tips.

Our trips are keeping me from going forward with getting a pet. Unless we were camping where the dog would be with us all day, we would board the animal at home. Just seems nicer.

We have six dogs. I used to board them in a kennel when we traveled, but they always came home sick, so I stopped doing it a long time ago.
I now have a trusted friend who stays in my home and cares for the dogs.
It works great and I highly recommend it.
We also do not have to worry about our house getting broken into while we are gone.
