We will be going to Orlando area over Christmas holidays (December 20, 2014 to January 2, 2015). It will be 2 adults (me and hubby), 2 seniors (hubby's parents), a 9 year old girl and a Dachshund dog. We are looking for a vacation home with a private pool, yet not too far from the parks. We will be driving to Florida so we will have a car while there :) Does anyone have any recommendations? There is so much online, it is overhwhelming. Is VRBO a safe site to book from? I'm leary of booking with just anyone if you kwim? A private pool is important because my inlaws enjoy spending a lot of their vacation just sitting poolside reading a book. Hubby, DD and I will enjoy the heated pool after a day at the parks or it will keep DD busy on our "down days".

Your biggest problem will be finding a " Pet Friendly " Villa.

We would NOt accept " ANY Pets " ..... You my try an smuggle one in

but you might be caught out by my Management Co.

Most Communities Will HAVE NO AREA for Pet FOULING or Walking.

VBRO is a " Safe " site or as Safe as any " other " or Any " Theme Park "area

Hotel Site.

Pool Heat is usually an " added " extra .

There are many other Very Good Co. who rent out Villas for private owners

" IPG " is one as is " AllStar Vac. Homes "

To Really enjoy your Vacation ... Leave your PET at home .... Or in a Boarding Kennel.

My dog will be at home at a wonderful boarding kennel we use. The only time our dog goes on vacation with us is when we are camping. She'll have a better time at the kennel then cooped up in a car with us for the drive there and back and being in the crate when we are not at the house with her. This dog is my in-law's dog and they refuse to leave him. Mom was surprised that we would have to pay extra for the dog, almost anywhere. Well of course we will. They also haven't thought that he will need to be crated for hours at a time when we go to the parks for the day. I'm not going to leave a dog unattended to roam free in a strange house I'm paying a hefty security deposit on! Hubby and I are trying to talk them out of bringing the dog, but I don't think we'll be very successful. They have already offered to pay the additional charges for the dog and he is a pretty good traveller - they take him EVERYWHERE. I think we have found a great rental though, recommended to us by friends in the Indian Point Subdivision. I am still looking around though so if anyone has any other suggestions. I for one am very excited. I have never been away from home for Christmas and have never had two whole weeks away before. I am not going to wish this summer away at all but once Labour Day arrives, the countdown will officially be on! :cool1:

We have rented through vrbo and homeaway a few times. We often travel with FOUR small dogs (ours and our inlaws) and have found owners willing to accept us all.

OP use the search and filters to narrow down your choices and then email owners. Ask about pet fees, security deposits etc. on top of the normal questions you might ask.

I'm sure you'll find something great that meets your needs.

We've used VRBO several times with no problems.

I would suggest, like the previous poster, to use the filters on VRBO to add pet friendly homes with pools.

In terms of communities, I would suggest you also look at Indian Creek and Sunset Lakes. I believe these communities have some 3 and 4 bedroom homes that fit your criteria, and they are very close to WDW.

Good luck with your search.
