Hey all, do you know if any of the restaurants still make personalized menus? In 2008 or 09 I got beautiful menus made at Coral Reef, I know they have since stopped. I was wondering if any other places do anything similar??

This trip is all about come backs and love, and I would love to shower my kids and boyfriend with special little surprises like a personalized menu!

Thanks for any and all help!:cutie:

There aren't any restaurants that do anything like what Coral Reef did in the past. Word is that the requests and demands became too much of a burden on the restaurant and the restaurant manager, and it had to be stopped.

Some restaurants can personalize a menu with something like a stock "Happy Birthday Inkedupmomma" or "Happy Anniversary Inkedupmomma" but nothing beyond that anymore.

You can, however, order a podium cake at almost any restaurant, they're fairly reasonable. Also, if you have trinkets and things that you'd like presented to your kids and boyfriends, some servers or hostesses will work with you and present the trinkets you provided to your family during the meal. I'd just be flexible in requesting that because not all servers will have the time.

Hope that you have a magical trip!!

(Sorry to offer the unsolicited suggestions for magical things. I am a bit addicted to planning magic. LOL )

1) All TS eateries can personalize a menu.
2) They can add your name and occasion.
3) They do not have to do it.
4) But, many do as a matter of course, or if asked.

We had personalized menus on 2 occasions at Citricos: once for my daughter's wedding dinner and once to celebrate their 5th anniversary. On both occasions the celebration was noted on the ADR, but no request for the personalized menu was actually made. So it was a lovely bit of pixie dust both times. I'm sure that if you made the request they would try to work with you.

Minnie mum, were they personalized with your own photos, etc like what they used to do at Coral Reef, or just simple "Happy Birthday ______" and "Congratulations _______"?

Just the simple Congratulations ones with names and dates.. no photos. But then, we didn't ask for those, so couldn't say if they're available or not.

Thanks for the info minnie mum. I was just wondering if what you received for personalizing was any different from what I've seen/heard about.

Coral Reef is the only restaurant that I knew of that did the amazing personalizing and I know they stopped that a few years ago. From your original post I thought that maybe something else was out there, and if there is I didn't want to incorrectly answer others.

thank you for all the info! I should have been clearer. I didn't mean for it to have pictures like coral reef used to do, just if I could have something more personal than generic "happy birthday" happy anniversary".. as we don't have anything of that nature to celebrate :cutie:

I think that they probably could work with you. I don't know the exact program that they use, but it seems like if they can personalize the name (the menu at Narcoossee's said Happy Birthday Tricia on my birthday) that they should be able to modify all of the wording.

It certainly never hurts to ask. :cutie:

Wishing you magic and pixie dust princess:

thanks so much! any clue how i get in touch with them? do i call each restaurant individually?

. . . I don't know the exact program that they use . . .

1) OK, folks, here is the way it works.
. . . menus are typed on the computer (some MS-Word, others Pagemaker)
. . . they are then printed whenever they are needed
. . . for special occasions, they just type names at the top
. . . they can also add things like "Happy ..." or "Congrats ..."
. . . then, they just print the menu as normal
2) And to repeat, ANY sitdown eatery can do this.

NOTE:
Coral Reef stopped specialized menus.
There were too many complaints.
Due to the Internet, people expected perfect menus.
With photos, poems, etc.
What used to be a favor, turned into a headache.
So, they stopped.
Same thing with Diver requests.
If signs were not right or divers late, people would complain.
To quote Pogo, " We found the enemy, and it is us."

Like I just said in my thread, I just called and requested it, and I was told no. The CM even put me on hold for about 15 minutes checking all over to see if it could be done. I'm thinking I will call back, and still give the quote, and tell them that we are celebrating.... maybe they could do something, but I wont expect anything.

I don't think it will do you any good, as your restaurant was Sanaa, which I believe does not print individual menus. Ask them when you get there, they may have the capability to print them and add a couple of lines to them. But I don't think you are ever going to find out on the phone.

Well, I called and spoke with another CM. She took my quote, and I told her that if possible, I would like to make a request that it be put on a personalized menu. I asked for it to be done for two restaurants - Sanaa and Rose and Crown. She was a wonderful CM - really very sweet.

She said that I should make sure to get there early and talk to the hostess about it, which I obviously will. And of course, I won't be dissapointed if they are not able to do this because I know its not something that is always done.

Now I just have to make sure to keep my family away from the podium when I check in so they don't hear any of this!!! That may be the hardest part!

Not to be a pest, but does anyone know if there is an email i can use to ask, or do I just call directly?

You'll need to ask when you get to the restaurant if they can print up a menu for your party. I take it you are looking to get one at every restaurant you visit. I can't say I've ever been offered a printed menu at buffets or family style places. It might help if you write down exactly what you want them to print on the menu, limit it to a couple of lines, and have the same thing printed at each restaurant. Then you can just hand them the paper if they ask what you want printed.

If you want to try calling the individual restaurants, Google them and see if you can get a direct phone number - but from previous stories about doing this you would likely leave a message, and then wait for someone to call back (if they do). WDW-DINE will not be able to tell you what any individual restaurants do.

I don't want them at every restaurant. I was thinking of maybe doing it at a couple of places, to wow my boyfriend, but def ont every place. I was thinking Cali grill and maybe another..not sure which yet? Le Cellier? Not sure yet??

I must have missed you saying I order it that day at podium.. sounds tricky LOL!

Not really, just ask if they can put a couple of lines of personalization on them, then let them know what you want written if they say they can. I haven't ever seen one that didn't say Happy Birthday or Happy Anniversary, so you will need to ask if they can customize the menu more than that.
