I remember reading a little while back about having nicknames put onto hats and that some people won't do it.

I thought this only pertained to hats, I guess I was wrong.

I went to the little kiosk that will put your name into a leather bracelet or keychain. My mom's boyfriend is named Donald, and so he collects a lot of Donald Duck stuff. So everyone calls her Daisy now. I thought it would be cute to get her a keychain with Daisy on it and have her name put on it. Of course, there was nothing with Daisy on it (If you ever notice things in the park, you will see that there is pretty much NOTHING with Daisy on it.) So since there was no Daisy keychains, I thought I would get a keychaing that had Donald Duck on it, with a heart. I asked to put "Daisy" in the heart.

They wouldn't! They said it had to be your name! They won't put any Disney character names on them. At first I thought the man was joking, but no! There were some teenage girls beside me that thought he was still just joking. One asked, "Well, what if your name was Daisy?" He said they would only do it then if the person had an ID with that name on it.

What?? He said it was because of "licensing" issues. What does that mean? Has anyone had any luck with this? I think it might have been because someone who appeared to be a supervisor was there fixing something? I am a season passholder, so I might go back and try again.

The only reason I was even doing this was their complete lack of Daisy Duck merchandise! Oh well I guess!

Can't help you with the licensing issue, but I just wanted to say that I've noticed the lack of Daisy merchandise too, and it bugs me! She's one of my favorite characters and I never understood why she gets neglected. 99% of the time she's not even included in groups where Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, and Pluto are present. As Donald's girlfriend and Minnie's best friend, she should be considered a part of the group. It's so unfair! What did she ever do to deserve this?

*rant over*

Perhaps one day Disney will decide to market her more, and then everyone will fall in love with her all over again. It worked with Tinker Bell. :tink:

I agree... My DH's name is Donald so we joke I am his Daisy and I can almost never find Daisy stuff except a few pins. Also we tried to have mouse ears done with Pookie (his nickname) and Mouse (mine from my mom) and they wouldn't let us :( Those aren't licensed :(

I seriously just don't understand why they wouldn't do one of their own names...? I want more Daisy stuff!!

That is crazy!!! Can you say you are getting it for a kid with the name Daisy?? They don't have ID then.

Is the nickname thing relatively? I have a pair of ears with "Spooky Kitty" on them. It was a joke because my friend used to call me that. I did get them quite a few ago, but the Daisy thing just seems odd. It is getting to be a popular name for girls, is a three year old expected to have ID?

There is a lack of Disney character stuff for many Disney characters. I mean you dont really see any Dumbo stuff around except the occasional teddy bear. There are no Fox and the Hound, Rescuers, Mowgali, Baloo, Max, Hewie Dewie and Louie, or even the Disney Princes for that matter. I would love to wear a shirt that has Prince Eric on it with a caption that says " This is my prince" or something. There is a lack of merchandise with other characters for sure...

Yea, I think if a supervisor isn't around, or if the CM just doesn't care they will do it. I think the one of the people there was a supervisor. So I'm going to try again next week (we are AP holders) and try again and just say it's for a neice, etc.

We were there before Christmas and one of my friends is named Mickey. They made her show her ID, and even then did not want to put her name on her Mickey ears. We were buying Mickey ears that had a pirate scarf attached and they finally said that if she would keep the scarf over the name while in the park, they would do it. These were young cast members and they said they didn't really know why, only they couldn't put on any characters' names. One of my friends said "What if Donald Rumsfeld wanted some ears?" They looked blank and one said "Who's Donald Rumsfeld.":confused3

We thought it was strange that she could show that her name is Mickey and they still didn't feel OK about doing it. They didn't want us to say where it was done, if anyone noticed.
