My wife is wanting to purchase a "Personal Mister" off of Amazon. Does anyone have recommendations for a decent quality device that is also on the cheaper end? She doesn't want to pay the arm and leg that the "Official" Disney stand will charge you in the park for a similar device. We just don't want something that will fall apart after a few uses.

its been a long time since I ordered it and not sure it'll show up in my amazon account but it was handheld with a plastic/rubbery type of fan and had a battery with a mister. best thing ever.

If you could try to find it? Or at least let me know the brand name if you still have it? I could probably find something similar with a brand name.

We've had the expensive Disney one for several years and my kids haven't broke it yet!

I've had best experiences with the misters that use pumps, rather than fans. I had a terrific one for several years, then the tube sprung an irreparable leak. found what looked like a good replacement that turned out to be much bigger than I realized.

Have you tried one, before you spend the money to buy it? I'm assuming it's for summer use. WDW is quite hot and humid, so there's a lot of moisture in the air. Spraying yourself with even more moisture may give a quick temporary cool feeling, assuming the water in the bottle is cold. But then within seconds, it'll just be more warm moisture on you in a hot and humid environment. I'd suggest trying a fan with no water first (or buy it with the misting, but don't use the mist). A breeze blowing the sweat/humidity off of you will help keep you cool.

This is what we found on Amazon that my wife was looking at, it just looked like really cheap plastic. Maybe we will look for a better built one that uses the same system.

I used to have a small portable fan I liked. We could probably go this route. But I always enjoyed filling my hat up with water and dumping it on my head the last time we went in the a hot month. We are going the first week of May. Temps will be 80s to low 90s probably. We went first week of June in the above mentioned hot month. We've always gone in cooler months since then, so trying to prepare for the heat again before we get there if possible.

Maybe I'm old school... I like the Evian fine mist can. We used them in high school and college at the beach. I love it for by the pool at Y&BC

We tried O2-Cool Carabiner Water Misting Fan few years ago and it did not work well for us - one broke down very quickly, the other one lost its rubber fan; overall not much relief in July heat form those small devices. We also tied battery operated fan with no water - it felt like it was just mixing up hot air and again did not provide much relief. I gave up on buying them - we just pack couple of bottles of frozen water in a small soft cooler for the day, avoid midday heat and plan to be in air conditioned areas as much as possible.

Good idea to be prepared for the heat if you haven't been in it in a while. If you like the misting fan, go for it, plenty of people do. Just for me, I tried it once or twice (sampled them at the places they were being sold) and found that it made me feel even more sweaty after a few seconds. I love getting soaked on Kali, but a small mist in my face just felt like sweat.

We used the same O2 cooling fan Mrs. Incredible linked to. It worked okay, especially if you put ice water from the counter service in it. But, other posters are right that the humidity keeps this from feeling too great. The fan just isn't powerful enough with that much humidity to really evaporate the mist/sweat. We tried foam fans (broke right away), mister fans (okay), and cooling towels (hated these). What worked best for us? We brought washcloths in a ziploc bag, dipped them in ice water from counter service, and rubbed our faces and necks with super cold water. It helped cool us down, but also feel "clean" as it wiped the sweat away as well. Making your neck cool will quickly cool down the rest of your body. Then, when we were done, they went right back into ziplocs. You can use the ones from your hotel and get fresh new ones everyday. Also, we kept a list handy of air conditioned options that usually don't have much wait (Muppets in DHS, Carousel of Progress, Hall of Pres, Ellen's Energy, etc.) and took breaks in air conditioning when needed.

We got ours at Target for about $7 or $8 when they put out all the summer stuff (beach towels, outdoor furniture, etc.). They work great. Just be sure to take out the batteries if you don't plan to use it for a while. The batteries can easily corrode and ruin the motor.

We found Frogg Togg towels to be much better at cooling than the misting fans. We tried both, we abandoned the fans after the first day and stuck to the Frogg Toggs the rest of our 9 day trip. They were invaluable.

We use small hand held fans (they were a couple dollars at walmart) and cooling towls, not the frog toggs as they dry hard and take up more room. I also have small paddle fan from China and the regular paper fans from there.
