Personal? I've been pricing vac packages to WDW?How much does your average trip cost?

We (3 Adults) are coming the first week of May 2004 from Philadelphia area.

Plane tickets (Round Trip) $194.00 ea
Stay at Pop Century $369.00 ea

total $563.00 per person

Includes: 7 days 6 nights at PC, Mears Transportation from/to airport, Entry into parks, Dream Maker Package.

I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!

our 2/27 - 3/6 trip (there were 4 of us) broke down like this:

airfare - from LaGuardia to MCO = $800
POR - 8 nights x $104 (postcard rate) = $927.68
7 day PHs & DQ - $1080
Towncar - $100
food, gifts, souveniers, etc = $1500 (at least), didn't keep track of this, but we did HDDR, 2 character meals, O'Hanas, H&V dinner package.

I am shocked at the gas estimates for driving out of state to Disney!!
We live an hour and a half away and I would say it is around $50 just for us......

I would love to know how you all save so much on gas!

As far as how much we spend....two adults and DD 16 months

in Feb
4 nights at Pop $219
seasonal passes - gift
and over $1000 in food and souveniers

in May
4 nights AKL Savannah view $892
3 night cruise $980
I am planning on $2000 for dinners and incidentals

have yet to book our December trip yet.....

thankfully we live close. If we had to pay airfare, rent a car and all that we would only be going once a year!

We made the package mistake ourselves Nov 2000 and wound up paying approx. $7000 for 2 of us for a week. Of course it was our first vacay together in 5 years and we had no bills (lived at home) but still wouldn't do that again. Especially since we stayed at the All Star Sports!

Driving - It is 677 miles for us one way from our driveway to the WDW arch on World drive. It takes 3 1/4 tanks of gas for the roundtrip. At about $36.00 a tankfull is where I get the $120 in gas for the roundtrip. We get 425 miles on the highway on 22.5 gallons of gas. Our truck doesn't move once it gets to it's parking spot at the resort at WDW.

Hey got2lovedisney - you can buy a seasonal pass for $189.00 (unless you're going during a black out period) which is not much more that the play 4 days pass and a one day ticket. Or you can uprgrade your play 4 days pass later.

Hi,
I started a similiar thread last week on the resorts forum, any ways i had some nice replys.....Someone reply with a email with discount codes for all the on site disney hotels so i though i would share it with all of you www.shopthemouse.com
To save any where it help.....
Last year at christmas was our first trip to WDW, we went to a travel agent to purchase a vacation package by the time we were done it cost us 3500.00 that included hotel at the All Stars, flight from Buffalo,Ny and the ultimate hopper passes for seven days and family of four incase i forgot to mention.....
Later on after my trip not that i didn't enjoy my trip because we really did, we just learn there are cheaper ways of doing things.....Like not having a traveling agent doing it all for you.....From reading these threads i have learned that if you book things yourself, seperately they are cheaper....Using AAA discount could give you some good savings.....Someone also mention there are hidden fees in packages that we are not aware of.....I just like to know what i'm paying for....Another saving i heard was that if you buy your hopper tickets when you get to the hotel it is cheaper, i can't remeber the reason why.....Just thought I'd share some of the traveling saving that i heard on these threads......

Actually, it's the opposite, If you buy your hopper or hopper-plus tickets in advance, it is less expensive because Disney offers a discount for advance purchase.

It may be less expensive to purchase Ultimate Park Hopper tickets at your resort because you can then have the first and/or last day removed from that ticket at your resort.

There is an advance purchase discount on the UPH, but when purchased in advance, it includes all days of your stay even if your arrive late at night on your first day.

By doing some research we were able to cut our week long vacation at POR during regular season to $1705 (room and tickets) for family of 4.

We opted to drive from Central Alabama to save the $800 on airfare and are budgeting another $700-$800 for meals & etc.

Unlike many people on this board, we don't go every year. It's been 6 years for DH and I and this is the first trip for our 2 boys (5 and 3) For all you get to enjoy, I think it's worth saving a couple of years towards the $2600 or so it will cost.

I'm going on a budget (it will be me, hubby and DS), we are driving to Disney (live in WV), got a good rate at a value resort ~$80 a night at Pop century, we are staying for six nights. I also got a great deal on tickets through the Disney sports center, I got three five day hopper tickets for $203 each. We are eating in our room usually two meals a day, but I have made PS at one nice restaurant each day. So I'm looking at spending around $1,800 for the whole trip--unless we go overboard on souvenirs.

We could even go for less if we stayed off site and/or stayed a shorter time also, we could eat a bit cheaper. We only go to Disney once every four or five years because it does cost more than most of our vacations---but it is SO worth it. I was there in May of 2000 and we are going back this year in May, I can't wait!!!! :Pinkbounc

Can you really feed 6 of you on $510 for 5 days? We're going for 5 days and there are only 4 of us and I figure a minimum of $600. How are you doing this?

WOW!! :faint: DH and I only spend about $2700 for 9 days and 8 nights when we did the package thing back in 2001. That was on the then called Discovery Magic Plan. We stayed at the All Stars also, Music. What plan where you on??

Wow. I notice that the food is one thing that is very costly. We don't have to have sit down dinners every night. I'm fine with something quick. We may do a couple of sit down dinners but not every night.

Have you looked at the menus on allears.net? That helped me with our food budget tremendously! Menus from Around the World

It depends......

A 6 night, 7 day trip cost us about $2600.
Includes hotel (POFQ), food, park passes, airfare, transportation to and from airport, and souvineers. Oh, and vet stay for our cats. (By the way, it's just me and my husband.

Our honeymoon to Disney World cost us about $4000. Just went in December. That included all the above, except we did a split stay at CBR and WL on AP discount. We were there total 13 days.

I budget $100 per day for food, for just the two of us. How some of you go with less than that, I'll never know!! This allows one restaurant meal per day. Sometimes two.

This is going to be the best trip ever

I agree with Carol whole-heartedly.

There are significant discounts when booked in advance through Disney Reservations (anyway). I also noticed that ordering the trip with AT LEAST one meal included cuts down on food costs. You can eat almost ANYWHERE.

I read that people did not like to book through Disney to use packages because they got charged for things like arrival day and departing day, Length of Stay passes that they felt cheated out of as they could not use them. (I would feel that way too)

I called Disney Reservations (DR) and asked if there was a way to avoid that and they said ABSOLUTELY! Just ask for a room only res on your arriving and departing day and then ask for the pkg for the remaining days of vacation.

I think you are right, though. I have never called ANYWHERE and had them say are you this? Do you belong to that? It's like shooting an arrow in the air with a blindfold on.

I know when I want to save money I leave no stone unturned and no question unasked.

Anyone else have any thoughts on rerasons to, or NOT to use DR?

My friend gave good acvide to use insurace for each person in the party. If ANYTHING goes wrong with the trip air, car, resort, illness, accident, illness etc. you may have a claim with the insurance company that would cover your entire (or maybe portions) of your trip. She looked into it as her father had been very ill and they were concerned about that. As he had a pre-exixting illness, she would not have been covered for that, but she followed her "gut" instinct anyway and as it turns out, their car ran out of gas on the way to the airport, missed the flight and when it was all said and done the insurance paid them back for everything except the insurance premium, itself. Look at the amounts people pay on this thread she could have lost ALL THAT MOENY and maybe more.

We try to stay under a $1,000 for air/hotel for DH & I. Never stayed onsite maybe this is why. The best deal we ever had was during New Years in 2001. Probably due to the lack of travelers we found a air/hotel deal for $500.00. Staying at the Grovesner. Never saw that deal again. I tell ya what costs. Those hopper passes. They can add a good $300-$400 depending on the amount to days you get to your package.

I booked my last trip (March 2004) through AAA. We are a family of four and we spent (not counting spending money - of which we spent much less than we anticipated!!) - $515 for hotel (we had to try the new PC!), $800 for air (Boston-Orlando) and $350 for car (my husband's golf clubs would not fit in the Chevy Cavelier!), and $655 for 4-day Park Hoppers (we do have a child under 3). Overall, it was not nearly as expensive as I anticipated! So many people don't even think of staying "In the Park" because they are afraid of the cost - I find the quality and value great inside Disney!
