Personal I.D

Hello I am new to this board although I have read the letters in the forum for a while now.
I have just received my Disney tickets for April and it states that we must have a photo and I.D when we use the tickets. We do not have to carry I.D. in the U.K. and I was wondering if it was really necessary and do the children need I.D. as well? We do not want to carry our passports around with us all the time. Any advice would be really appreciated, thank you.

DW and I have had AP's for several years and have only been asked to show an ID when the pass didn't work in the machine at the entrance of the park. I don't recall seeing anyone being asked to show an ID when entering the parks. Maybe someone else has had a different experience than me.

A photocopy of the photo pages from your passport should be sufficient to satisfy Disney staff is there is some kind of problem scanning your tickets.

Be aware that this will NOT be sufficient to prove your age should you wish to purchase alcoholic beverages at any time during your visit; for that you must present your actual passport or another form of gov't issued photo identification card.

Yes, it will be necessary for anyone over the age of 16 to have a photo ID with them while at WDW. All tickets in the new ticket system are individually owned, so you will need the ID so they can match your name on the ID with that on the ticket, and enter it into the computer system. As long as your kids (up to age 17) are with you and you have your ID, they won't need one. Please make a copy of your passport (I know you don't want to carry it into the park and risk loosing it), or if you have a UK Driver's license, that will work very well. That is usually what the guests from the UK have when they go to pick up their tickets from will call.
