Personal Checks @ Disney Store???

Ok, headed to WDW in 7 days and I was planning to take my DD 4 1/2 to the Disney Store before school tomorrow to pick out a few new things to wear on our trip. Well here's the problem. I can't get to my credit union today and I just found they are closed tomorrow for a meeting and training. So does the Disney Store take personal checks? Also do they use a third party type check verification company when writing a check? I've never written a bad check but for some reason whatever company Target uses won't allow me to write checks there because I don't have a history with them. How weird...right?! I found that out the hard way. I just don't want to get stuck there with no way to pay, that is the worse feeling in the world especially when you know there shouldn't be a problem! Thanks!

P.S. My credit union just switched to the Visa check card so I have no debit card and my husband holds our only credit card which is used only for emergencies and such.

Did you call the particular Disney Store you are going to? They would be able to tell you.

Disney Stores can accept personal checks with a home phone number and a valid drivers license or state ID. Third party checks need proof that you are involved in the business such as a business card. You may want to call ahead about the third party check just to make sure. However, I can tell you that at my store, we do accept personal checks.

I just did and they do accept checks with proper ID. But, when I inquired about how they verify the check she said she isn't able to disclose that information. That seems kind of odd because I would think that a check writer should be able to know how there check is processed. Unless she meant she couldn't disclose the information over the phone. I'm not sure.

I think you misunderstood me. I was curious if anyone knew how they verify your check (i.e. with a third party check verification company) because whatever company Target uses won't allow me to write checks there because I don't have check writing history with them. even though I've never written a bead check in my life!

I just wrote a personal check at the Disney store last week. I don't remember them verifying it. They just asked for my ID.

We do have a company that does verify the checks, however we have no control over what they do. I do know if it doesn't accept a check, we do have a paper that is given to the guest with a phone number written on it. I'm really not sure what the company is though...sorry!

Your Visa check card is a debit card. You can use it to pay anywhere that takes Visa or debit cards.

I've used my personal check at our local Disney Store, they just wrote my driver's license number on it, and verified the address was the same as on my license!
