Personal Checks @ Disney Store???

Ok, headed to WDW in 7 days and I was planning to take my DD 4 1/2 to the Disney Store before school tomorrow to pick out a few new things to wear on our trip. Well here's the problem. I can't get to my credit union today and I just found they are closed tomorrow for a meeting and training. So does the Disney Store take personal checks? Also do they use a third party type check verification company when writing a check? I've never written a bad check but for some reason whatever company Target uses won't allow me to write checks there because I don't have a history with them. How weird...right?! I found that out the hard way. I just don't want to get stuck there with no way to pay, that is the worse feeling in the world especially when you know there shouldn't be a problem! Thanks!

If it were me, I would call the store & ask. Just to be sure.

Or use your debit card at the store.

Or stop & get cash from an ATM.

I have used checks at our local Disney Store in San Diego and have never had any problems, just make sure you have your drivers license with you. They have never processed my checks electronically and the last time I wrote a check there was about 2 weeks ago. Hope that helps.

When i worked at the disney store, the check was put through a check verification machine at the register (can't remember the name of it). This tells the cast member whether they can accept the check or not. Sometimes the guest may not have noticed because the process is a quick one, it just goes in and loops around and comes back out in about 2 seconds; the approval or disapproval comes up on the cast member side of the register. We also took the drivers license info. once it was verified. I imagine they still use a similar process as good or better since that was a couple years ago.
Maybe a good idea is to call and be sure though.

Thanks for all your help. I called my Disney Store and they do take checks but the lady on the phone said that they couldn't disclose how they verify checks. That sounded a little weird to me, isn't that a policy that the check writer should be able to know about? Unless she meant she couldn't disclose that over the phone. Oh well I guess I'll have to test my luck. Anymore advice or inside info would he appreciated! Thanks!

I would pay with a debit card or go to the ATM to avoid any embarrasment just in case the check doesn't go through.

I would gladly pay with debit card or credit card but I have neither. My credit union just switched to Visa check card and I haven't received it yet and my husband holds our only credit card that we use only for emergencies and such. Thanks for the suggestion!
