Having driven through that Porte Cochere many times, as well as using those steps as a pedestrian, there’s no way you could do that accidentally. Sorry, but no. The only way you could do that is if you were doing something behind the wheel other than driving (which is a choice, not an accident) or as a deliberate act. People should really pay attention and drive when they are behind the wheel. I have seen some really dangerous activities going on in the driver’s seat, the most dangerous of which was a guy putting on pants while driving, and then reclining the seat to tuck his shirt in and fasten his belt, while the car was moving. I was the passenger in the car next to him, and we dropped way back to get away from him.

I wouldn't assume it was intentional. It's definitely wide enough for a car, and there are no pole barriers like on the opposite side. I think everyone has, at one time or another, turned into somewhere that you couldn't go. Most people recognize it before it is too late. Bonehead move for sure, but I see how it could have been an accident.

He probably came running out in a stupor after hearing, "No sir, we haven't lowered the prices even though half of the amenities are closed, it's still full price." lol I'd have driven down the steps too.

The will probably put a handrail in the middle of it now. Was the person wearing a mask at the time? Maybe glasses were steamed up. Still a very dumb move.
