Dumb question here....when you are celebrating something special do the resorts recognize that with any perks?

I always go on my birthday and this time I mentioned that to the CM she said she would note that on my reservation. We are staying at the ASMo (may upgrade if the prices drop) in Oct and the WL in Dec for our 10 year anniversary and she made that note on that reservation too.

So basically, what do I get ha ha!

There's no guarantee you'll get anything special. Hopefully some folks that have celebrated at AS will pop in and will post about their experience. When we've stayed at YC, CR and AKL they noted the anniversary and birthday and we were given balloons with candy and cake with card. AKL's concierge sent us chocolate covered strawberries for anniversary.

we were in disney for our 5 year anniversary. i made our dinner ressies and told the cm about our anniversary, and she did note it! 2 days after our anniversary we at dinner at cinderellas royal table, and they gave us champagne glasses. it was a very nice surprise! by the way we were not staying on disney property that trip!

We stayed at the Wilderness Lodge for our honeymoon in 1997. We booked one of the honeymoon suites for six nights.

I booked through WDTC and informed them that we were indeed celebrating our honeymoon.

When we checked in, the CM congratulated us on our marriage. A few other CMs stopped by to wish us well. We used our American Express card when checking in. At the time AMEX had a special deal with Disney. We received a "fanny pack," discount book, and few other perks. My wife really liked the fanny pack, so the CM gave a second AMEX package so we could each have bag.

After we had been in the room for about 10 minutes, there was a knock at the door. A CM had brought us a small bottle of champagne and some chocolates. There was a card attached saying something like "Congratulations from the Wilderness Lodge."

The gift was free, but it ended up costing us money anyway. My wife drank the champagne so fast that she got a little tipsy. She started jumping up and down on the bed. She got so carried away that she crushed her sunglasses.

We had to go to the mercantile and buy a pair of Disney sunglasses. We all know how cheap those are. :rotfl2:

I'm not sure what Disney does nine years later, but it's surely possible you will get something to commemorate your big event.

Good luck and enjoy!

Basically, you get nothing. Don't go expecting something because you are sure to be disappointed.

The day after we arrived for our honeymoon we found balloons and a card signed by Mickey and Minnie. There was also a voice mail from M&M which was very cute and funny. It was a nice surprise.

Definitely, don't go in looking for something.

I'm not sure , but during our recent stay DS and I were having a late breakfast at Tuskerhouse Resturant in AK a young lady was wearing a birthday button and the server wish her happy birthday and ask her what kind of slice of cake would she like. I thought that was a nice jester.:cool1:

WE have gone to WDW and celebrated my dd's 6th birthday there. We did make mention of it when it was booked, but didn't ask for anything. The only time it was acknowledged was when we ate at Crystal Palace for dinner. They brought out a birthday cupcake, with a candle, and a card signed by all the characters. It was cute.
We are going back in Oct for a 13th b-day celebration for my dd (her birthday is the last full day in WDW) and her friend (birthday is the day after we get back home). I am planning things myself, so that if there are no 'magical moments', we won't be disappointed.

We stayed at AKL in May for DH's birthday. He didn't receive anything, but never expected anything either, so no disappointments. He was just happy to be there with the family. It was a wonderful weekend.

when we honeymooned at the bwi, they sent up a very pretty basket of flowers. we are going to the yc this year over our anniversary (our first trip with our kids!), but I'm not sure I even mentioned it when I made the ressies. hmmm...maybe when I make a ps or something I'll slip it in. lol. I'm trying to think of some ideas to do myself as a small surprise for dh. on the night of our actual anniversary we'll likely spend it on the balcony (kids are young and will be in bed early) so maybe will just have some champagne sent up. Not really counting on anything from disney, but if something happens, it will be a nice surprise.

You do know how many thousands of birthdays and anniversaries are celebrated each day at WDW, don't you? There are only 365 days in a year.

yep, but it doesn't hurt to ask the question. and from the posts, it does look like some people (me included) have had a little something from disney. doesn't mean it happens all the time, and as long as the op remembers its not a given, I say dream a little dream. :)

I just got my itenerary for our upcoming honeymoon trip there, and it noted honeymoon couple, but I highly doubt they do anything. We are staying at AKL so I am pretty sure we will have to think of magical things to do ourselves. I rather have things planned and know it will be nice than hope and bank on disney to do surprises. I am sure that some do get them, but it's probably luck of the draw.

In 2000 I advised them it was our honeymoon and we got nothing...in 2004 I advised them it was my birthday and I got nothing. I didn't expect anything, but I thought it was worth a try! I wasn't disappointed because I WAS IN DISNEY! That was all I really needed!

On Dh and myself's first trip to WDW together we were on our honeymoon. We stayed at the All star music. We recieved a autographed photo of Donald and Daisy wishing us a Happy Honeymoon a bouquet of balloons. Very nice we were not expecting anything. We had made ressies for the Rose and Crown for Dinner right when Illuminations were starting. I told everyone it was our honeymoon when we booked anything with Disney. When we arrived the CM congratulated us on our marriage and set us up right by the water so we had a AMAZING view of Illuminations and just as it started they brought us two glasses of champagne.
This past year we went and celebrated our anniversary of dating ( yes we still celebrate that too because well if we didnt start dating probably wouldnt have married the guy) We mentioned in our ressie and when we made our ADR's that it was our anniversary. When we arrived we were congratulated, I was about 3 months pregnant then too and green from the bus ride on magical express. The CM asked me if I was ok, I said yes just pregnant. She was very happy for us, we got our room, I went and prayed to the porcelin gods and all was good. We went out into the parks when we returned to our room not only was our luggage there but another bouquet of balloons wishing us a happy anniversary, a autographed photo of Mickey and Minnie but a plate of the two crackers sized packages of salteens with a picture of Pooh and Piglet wishing us congratulations on the new addition.

None of this was expected but was very nice, the crackers made DH laugh and I did use them through the week.

All of that sounds so nice! I am not expecting anything, I was just wondering what alot of you have received for your special dates.

I have gone on so many birthdays and never even knew about the birthday pin! To me that is so cool!

Don't mean to steal your thread but I thought I would throw this out for those who are planning on going to the world between now and Oct. 1. We know how Disney likes to open things up with dry runs. What if they want CM's to practice their Year of a Million Dreams Giveaways with dry runs. Maybe those celebrating birthdays, anniversaries, and honeymoons might be in for some pixiedust:
