I've heard that once you cruise with Disney and rebook that you receive perks that first timers don't receive...is this true? if so can anyone list what they are?

Thank you

Kyle:confused:

You are invited to a cocktail party with the officers which has nice hors de avores and complimentary drinks. You also recieve a stateroom gift which currently is a plush beach towel. There is a seperate check in line for "castaway club(aka return cruisers)members" but often that line is longer than the regular one. There used to be a GREAT perk that if you rebooked within 120 days you got a stateroom credit but that has been replaced with a "rebook on board" program. That sometimes is hard for people to do.

When you rebook onboard or online through DCL do they give a discount to Castaway Club members, or is it the same price? I am seriously considering booking a 7 day cruise when we go on our first 4 day cruise in November, but I am curious about where I will get a better bargain at. Any help is appreciated!!!

what is the Castaway club...I read somewhere that all guest that Travel DCL become a member and will be notified by mail...is that true? if so I went back in May and haven't received anything...should I call?
\
Thanks

We sailed in May too and haven't received any information about the Castaway Club either. I just asked about it last week when we booked our next cruise and they said it takes about 8-12 weeks, which it has been. Anyway, they said it is noted on the reservation and we would receive the Castaway Club gift and whatever else it is that goes along with it.

I cruised back in 2000 and never got my club info, but because of these boards I knew about the perks. I called DCL and asked what my number was inorder to use it for my upcoming cruise.

I cruised in April, 2003, and never received anything by mail. I called DCL to find out why and to get the Castaway Club number before I booked my second cruise. They gave me the number over the phone, verified all of my information and sounded surprised that I hadn't received anything. I gave the number to my TA for my next cruise.

We were on the July 19th Magic cruise and got our Castaway Club packet last week--less than three weeks after we disembarked!

I sailed August 98 and don't remember how long it took to receive my card. However since it was my honeymoon cruise the card was under my maiden name. A few weeks ago I called up and asked if I could get a card under my married name since we are planning another cruise in 2005. I received a replacement card within 1 week.

This site is worth its weight in gold! We sailed Disney in Dec 2001 and never received or heard of a Castaway Club number...until now! I called DCL (800-449-3380) and they gave me a number for each family member. As it turns out my reservation did not reflect us as Castaway Club members, so thanks to this thread we now are all a number!! ;)

Not only are you a number, you will also be a proud owner of a great big, plush, Castaway Club Disney Cruiseline beach towel and pins! yea! I LOVE my beach towel, but am very protective of it! don't mess with MY towel! LOL

My new towel will be added to my list of things not to touch! My car has Disney everything! When my husband borrows my car, I always call him to see how Winnie the Pooh is doing. My Winnie the Pooh car mats are protected too, feet have to be clean before entering the car! My husband and kids think I'm silly, I think I am just still a kid, or is that a kid at heart! :Pinkbounc
One more thing I'd like to add to the list of things repeat customers get, and that is knowledge. I am looking forward to our next cruise because I know so much more and I know what to expect.

Cheryl-Lynne,

I too have the Winnie the Pooh car mats! My son cringes when I mention something Pooh!...the shirt, socks, car phone holder. I really want the Pooh luggage!!!

Our experience with the Castaway Club membership is the same. My dh did get his prety quick after last year's cruise. my ds and I didn't get anything. I figured he had his, so we just use his number. However, it did come with a card for 1st time members to receive the $50 discount. Well, that was last year. Our neighbors are going to book, so I told them about this discount.

I requested the other two cards about 2 months ago. They didn't come. So last week, I requested it again. Of course the next day I recieved them! But, they sent my dh another one and not my ds. Oh well, I did get the card to give to my neighbor!

I think they should offer the $200 discount per stateroom to all return cruisers at any time; I think they would make more money that way and all the cruises would be even more near full.
I think they could offer $300 discoun while the ship to entice even more people.
They need new marketing people.
I think the other cruise ships offer better discounts to returning cruises. I cruised Carnival (did not like them) and they hounded me to cruise again for years offering great discounts.
What do you guys think?

YOu do get to "keep the credit" if you make the reservation then change it later to another date. Also, if you make the reservation and pay the deporit for 2, you can always add your 3rd or 4th person later.

Make sure you go to the reception and have the coconut shrimp....it is so YUMMY!!!:D

Music Girl

I haven't seen the pooh luggage, but I think that would make a great Christmas gift! wink! wink!:)

The best perk for return customers....

Being able to be recognized by CM's and made to feel like you are one of "the family"

Next best perk - meeting people on line and then in person!~

Third best perk - cruising with people you become friends with then cruising with them again!!!!

Now that's perks!
