I have notice more muscle fatigue and just overall less toned muscle, and odd aches like my thighs, upper arms...and not related (aches)to exercise, no real change/increase to routine. We have had a lot of stress in the last 2 years, but I am thinkng this is maybe related to peri? I don't know, my annual is in a few months but I was just curious if others have noticed this?

As you age, you lose a LOT of muscle mass. It really becomes noticeable in your 40s. When your hormones start dropping off, then you lose even more.

I find, in general, I'm way more achy than I used to be but, then again, I've been exercising steadily since early January and all of that has really improved.

I was having problems with muscle aches during peri. When I told my physician she prescribed a drug I could take at bedtime to help relax my muscles. It's like you experience a build up of lactic acid in the muscles ... I would feel worse in the morning than when I went to bed. Some mornings it hurt to change gears in my car.

So, definitely discuss it with your doctor.

I also started taking glucosomine and it has really helped with joint pain.

If you haven't already, I would get your thyroid checked too.

I did. Actually for a woman who had very few issues at all i was a train wreck and I thought that I was losing my mind. I was achey, had headaches and as time went on I was totally exhausted but could nto get a full night sleep. Talk to your Dr, I tried to tough it out but went from peri to full blown menopause and never knew what hit me. If I could turn back I would have told the Dr all about symptoms that I thought were all stress related and gotten help long before I made myself adn my family crazy. Good luck!

thanks, it did appear to set in all of a sudden, but once I thought about it a variety of odd aches/pains/symptoms have been creeping in...I did have my thyroid checked a few years back, guess I will need to look into it again. It'ss frustrating because I want to add more to a workout but feel too sore and exhausted to wrap my head around it. Then I thought it was the winter doldrums added on, my Dad passsed away Christmas day of '09 and I had to move my mom here in August (who's failing health has us at the doctor at least 3x's a week, very, very stressful issues)trying to sell her place, work..well, you guys know, everyone has their issues so I figured why can't I get a grip? THEN the hot flashes started and the light bulb went off (dim as it may be) I did call my GYN and her nurse mentioned that soreness in thighs, anywhere really is not uncommon so that was helpful. I will look into glucosimine...I am not one to take anything if I don't need it, matter of fact I am bad at remembering a daily vitamin and calcium..that may be par tof my problem!;) I need to invent coffe that has all that in it...would solve my intake issues for sure.

I have been having really bad pain/aches in my upper thighs and groin area. I tried taking advil, but it didn't really do anything. I started taking a calcium/magnesium/zinc supplement and to my surprise, it really helps! You might want to check into that as well.
