Anyone here experience cold flashes? I am 44 and twice in the past few weeks I have had bone chilling cold spells. I cannot get warm. I have no fever, and I am not sick. I did some googling and found that some women do indeed have cold flashes. I was wondering if anyone else has had this happen? I have had complete bloodwork up within the past year and everything was normal.

I get cold flashes quite frequently. The doctor said it is more common than people realize. At least I can put more clothes on ;)

Get them all the time!!! It makes my loved ones crazy though, cause I'm always turning up the thermostat and their sweating! Lol

I have been getting cold flashes for years. I was positive I was getting sick but I never would. Eventually I realized it was happening around the same time every month. The cold flashes turn on a dime to hot flashes, as well. Fun times! :rolleyes1

Well, I don't about perimenopause but I do get cold spells and hot spells. I can be freezing one minute and sweating the next. I also get terrible cold spells at night. It is so strange the way I can feel them coming on and then whamo! I get so cold that I can't move. All I can do is lay in bed and shake. It started happening when I was pregnant with my DD and is still happening 5 years later. My cycles are also really messed up. I've talked to several doctors about it but no one has ever been able to offer me any explanation. I am 35 now.

good to know I am not the only one!! I am thinking I may need to bring a warm sweatshirt to work and leave it there...if I get a cold flash at work, it would not be good since all I have done the past two times is try to warm up in bed!!

I would have periods of time where I would get extremely cold--shivering. I would call them "flashes" though as they lasted for hours. My bloodwork came up normal; however, I did find out later that I had very low ferritin (iron stores). This is not a test routinely done. Once I started taking iron, I never had another cold spell again.

Interesting..I will keep that in mind!

Did your blood panel include thyriod? I thought I was peri-menapausal (and still could be) because my cycles got shorter and more intense including hot and cold spells. Plus I was tired all the time and thought it was being a mom. Turns out I have hypothyroidism. I am taking meds but still haven't gotten the right dosage yet (and it can take a year). Good luck and grab a sweater :)

I had a baby 11 days ago and am experiencing the same thing! I keep thinking I am about to start running a fever and keep checking to see if I am getting mastitis. Definitely hormonal I think, so it makes sense you would be experiencing it as part of perimenopause. I keep expecting to get hot flashes but it's the other way around. My family thinks I am nuts all bundled up.
