This weekend I am picking up an exchange student who is coming to live with me for five months. We have made plans to take her to Disneyworld with us during Easter vacation. I paid for the package and included her in the seven days of park admission tickets and dining plan. Tonight I found out that she has signed up for a trip to California with the exchange program and the dates are during our trip to Disney. Don't even get me started about how irritated I am that she knew that the dates conflicted and never bothered to tell me about her plans until after the fact.

Okay, I know that I have to suck up the loss of money for the tickets when she does not check into the resort with us. I booked the package through AAA. Will we at least be able to use her food credits that I paid for already even though she will not be there?

Either you'll get your money back for her or you will be able to use her credits even though she's not with you.

I must be missing something. You can change your package, which I assume includes dropping one person from your reservation, without charge as long as you're more than 45 days from your trip. Up to 5 days before there is a possible $100 charge but that's a cancellation charge. I'm not sure they'd charge it if you just drop one person from your reservation.

I don't see any reason why AAA can't just drop this person from tickets and dining. Some AAA offices might charge a fee for changing your reservation.

I agree with Lewisc, call Disney and remove her from your reservation. I have changed names on reservations up to the 46day out with no problems. If something happens and you need to add her back on just do it later. They will usually let you make changes that cost you money up until a few days out. I added my sister at the last minute last summer and just paid for the additional cost. It was more money in Disneys pocket so no penalty.

True, true -- that should be possible.

With AAA you can get a refund on her portion by calling them up. Cancellations are allowed up to 60 days prior to travel.

I dropped a person from our package and got my money credited back to my credit card. It was before the 45 day deadline though. It was as AAA package.
