I'm proud of our pergola!

My fiancee and I made it from scratch, and I'm pretty proud! I had to show someone, and we're keeping it a surprise from our families, so hopefully you guys enjoy seeing it!

We still need to stain and seal it, but I LOVE the way it came out. My fiancee is a genius when it comes to construction of furniture and stuff. We've built a lot of our household furniture, including our Mickey bed!!!

Only 9 days till we're married!!

We are addicted to HGTV and DIY network!! It also helps that DF works for a family run lumber yard/hardware store and we get everything at cost! Makes our life a lot easier for all of our home improvement projects.

We finished the pergola tonight, sealed and stained it...it's a subtle difference, but really brings out the natural grains in the wood. I'm so pleased with it, I can only imagine what it will look like draped with flowers...

I've already had a girl at work ask how much we would charge to make her one just like it! I smell a side business....

As for the Mickey bed, we just wanted a plain bed with a little Disney touch. We searched and searched for the right stencil and couldn't find anything we loved. I ended up making the stencil from a lamp that we bought from the kids section of Rooms-to-go. It worked perfectly!

You can see the lamp in the upper left corner.

We also made the side tables. Another tip that we got from HGTV, if you take galvanized pipe, which is super cheap, and rub it with steel wool....it takes some time, and it's a little messy, but the result looks like brushed nickel, which we love.

It's a little bare, this was taken right when we first moved the bed in the room...

Thanks to everyone for your feedback...I know that I love it, and I hope that it's not just because I'm biased!! I will definitely post pics from the big day!

It looks very nice with the stain on it, and the bed is really cute! I think you'd have an easy time making a business out of selling some creations! (do you ship to Canada? LOL) I'm kinda handy.. DBF..not so much!

Hum...I'll have to look into shipping costs!! I think I will have to research a little bit more about shipping something that big...it is 7 ft wide and 8 ft tall!!! We're planning to place it over top of our waterfall in our pond (which we installed last weekend, and are planning to finish up this weekend) and I can't wait to see the pond finished. Today we're building a deck around it and finishing a wooden cover for the filter/waterfall unit.

We are seriously considering making a website to sell some custom made peices...but that research will have to wait until after the wedding and honeymoon...only a week away!!!
