Almost $200???? Why so pricey? I see you get a doll & some photos, maybe some pastries & apple juice.

Has anyone done this? I was going to put this on my list for my DD for a future trip, but yikes!! Maybe not?

The same reason Disney charges my 3 year old daughter $18 to eat at a character breakfast buffet.

They know people will pay it.

It isn't about what you get for your money (same with Character Meals), but you are rather paying for the experience.

And I thought it was even more than that...I thought 1 adult and 1 child was $250.

When you think two adults can eat at Victoria & Alberts for close to that, it really puts things in perspective.

I did it many years ago. I don't remember it being quite that pricey, but don't really remember. It was nice. My DD and I dressed up for it. She LOVED it. She got the doll, a bracelet, a rose, scrapbooking pages..I think that was all? Maybe a wand, or something too?

We had little appetizers and cakes..by no means anything to get full from, but still nice.

Is this the only "kids-only" event, besides the Pirates Cruise?

I don't think the princess tea is kids only; I think that's the Alice tea in the cafe. But you do have to attend with a kid at the princess tea (which I believe is at the garden view tea room).

That's all well and good, but I don't remember V&A allowing children inside until they hit 10 (?). So what good is a $250 meal for two adults when you're going to either have to pay to have someone come and watch the kiddo or pay to bring someone along for the same thing? That's even more money.

I'm confused... I don't think the previous poster was suggesting you should bring your child to V&A instead of the Princess Party.

I think the point being made here is that a Victoria & Alberts meal for two adults comes to about the same price as a Perfectly Princess Party for one adult and one child. Meaning, it's the standard price for a dining experience for two.

As for "what good is a $250 meal for two adults", it's worth remembering that not everyone visits Disney with a small child in tow.

Disney has provided fancy dining experiences for everyone, and it's your choice whether or not you wish to pay for it. Whether that's a parent-and-daughter tea party, a romantic adults-only meal with your sweetheart, a hoe-down, or a luau, to name just a few.

Sigh, it's not in my budget either. I'd love to take Izzy. I'm planning in the far future to take the girls each once by themselves just the two of us and doing special things with each. Probably still won't be able to afford the Princess Tea but will do the GF tea instead.

I'm confused-maybe I am mixing up several different events I've heard. I thought I read about a kids only tea party, where they give parents some sort of a beeper thingy where you can check in with your kid anytime during the event?? I wonder if i am thinking of a DCL event (I just watched the planning DVDs lol!!)

Do parents attend the Pirates Cruise?

What is the Alice tea party someone mentioned?

Yeah, I agree, yikes...I have 3 girls... so not gonna happen. I've thought about letting the kids do the Alice Tea Party, which is more "affordable," but as a family of 6, sometimes the extras just have to be skipped...

PP compared the two, each with their own intended target groups. OP wanted to know why THIS was so expensive and not find other things to substitute for it.

And, we don't have children either. I'm not sure why you're assuming that I have children and PP doesn't. For all we know, PP could have a child. I don't need a $250 romantic meal at WDW, because I live in an area with awesome food choices. I am going to WDW to experience things that other places can't offer me.

IF we are ever blessed with children (I can no longer have my own thanks to the chemo that I just finished) and one is a daughter, I will see if she wants to go to this on one of our trips. If she says no, then it's no skin off my nose and I'll find something else that she might want to do. She says yes? Well, then I'm eating peanut butter all year at school to make it happen for her.

PS: If you look at the person I quoted, you will see that there is at least one child in a picture in their signature.

I think what the OP is after here is: Is there a reason this is so much more expensive than other character dining experiences?

"because people will pay it" is half of an answer. Why do they pay it would be the other half.

I'm curious myself, I love character dining and this o.e still boggles me.

OT, but I just wanted to say  & I wish you well. My mom is going through this right now.

OK, I think I'm going to plan to skip the Perfectly Princess Tea & put the Wonderland Tea & possibly the Pirates Cruise on our future wish list as well. :)

Where in the GF does the Wonderland Tea Party take place? Is it also in the GV Tea Room?

Thanks!

We loved the Pirates and Pals Fireworks Cruise! You get to meet Cap'n' Hook and Mr. Smee before you depart, you see Wishes and the Electric Water Pageant and then you get to meet a special guest at the end of the voyage.

Also, have you thought about the Sorcerers of the Kingdom (I think that's what it's called)? It's free and a kind of scavenger hunt all over MK.

...because people are willing to pay!

My daughter has been pestering me for a My Disney Girl doll ever since she saw the outfits for them in Poly's gift shop (convenient since the dolls had been discontinued by that time.. :rolleyes2). Attending the Perfectly Princess Tea Party is the only way to get a MDG doll now and since I always do one "extra" for DD on each vacation, she's finally going to get her doll in October. Putting the doll aside, the PPTP also completely fits my daughter's personality. She's an infinite girly-girl, loves her pretend tea parties and dressing up, etc. so for the first time ever her "extra" is going to be a complete surprise and I can't wait to see her reaction to it!

I sort of felt obligated to do this for my daughter on her first trip to Disney, seeing as she is named Aurora. ;) It was expensive, but she really loved it, remembers it at age 11 even though she was only 4, and still plays with the doll to this day! I treated the party as a combo experience plus souvenir. I think the only other thing she brought home was her autograph book and pen. If you have a little girl who really loves dolls and Princess Aurora then it is probably worth it. I had a friend who thought about it for her girls but it was too much money for her and she did the Tea in Wonderland instead, which is much cheaper.

Does someone have a link to the Tea in Wonderland?

I honestly didn't think the doll was very pretty. :stir: The baby doll like princesses at the DW store are much cuter.

I saw this when planning our last trip, got all excited, and then saw the price. NO THANKS! lol I ended up getting all dressed up with my daughter and we went for a "tea party" at the GF while dad went off to the ESPN Zone to watch some game. We had tea sandwiches, strawberry tea and (I had) champagne. I was a perfectly nice alternative.

We ended up doing SO many character meals that I doubt it would have had as much impact ... maybe this upcoming trip would be better, but I honestly feel like she won't miss what she doesn't know about.

I haven't seen the doll but I figured the price was so expensive b/c Disney is trying to have an "American Girl" doll equivalent. Those dolls are over $100 so if you figure $100-125 for the doll, then $125 for the rest of the experience?

Plus, people will pay it...;)

When I was about six years old my mum, sister and I went while dad rode ToT. I'm older now and can understand how pricey it really is, I must say I still remember every moment of it 8 years later. Every child gets introduced and crowned, the piano player takes requests and is fantastic. I still have my crown and doll from that day also :) So, speaking as the actual child in the experience and not the parent, it is worth while and more than magical, however if trying to not totally blow your budget, I suggest substituting something else for the tea party.
