Monarda-Also called Bee Balm, these are an aromatic plant, loved by butterflies. The shaggy flower grows on top of a tall 24-48 inch plant and comes in white, blues, pinks, violets and reds. Bee Balm likes a rich, cool in the summer soil. Its best to keep these plant mulched, that way the soil stayed damp and cool as their leaves transpire a great deal. Plant in sun or semi-shade.

I put in some Bee-Balm last year. It grew well but then was eaten by some nasty bug. It's coming along nicely so far this spring. I'll be keeping an eye on it!!

I think I had better mulch my bee balm... I didn't realize it liked cool feet. I planted some last year - and it is coming up well so far this spring.
