Hi all,

We are renting points for an upcoming stay next week. We will be in a 2 bedroom at VWL. We are thinking we might like an additional day or two of mousekeeping.

First question is, how much is a standard mousekeeping visit per day?

Second, do we need to book in advance, or can we call in the morning and request service for that day?

Thanks!

VP

$60 per day, $25 for additional trash and towel. It can be arranged on site, if renting, that's what I'd do. Truthfully I don't think it's needed most of the time.

Just call housekeeping from the room when there, better to call day before you want it than day of.

I agree with Dean. A "home away from home" is so much like an apartment, you will tend to live in it the same way too. We actually usually request LESS housekeeping than we are entitled to. For example, We check into a 2 bedroom Savanna view Kidani unit on Sunday for 9 nights. Our first service will be a full cleaning on Wednesday. Then we would get a trash and towel "mini" service on the following Sunday, but we will check out the morning of Tuesday the 24th, so we will likely ask them to drop the Trash and towel service on Sunday.

We find we'd rather do our own tidy etc than worry about having people trapsing through our space at unknown times.

I just had to share our experiences before you spend the money to commit to extra mousekeeping. For years, one big reason we didn't buy DVC was the lack of daily mousekeeping. Finally we bought, but the mousekeeping issue was still a "sticking point" and we were sure we'd pay the extra for getting it every day. But we found that dianeschicht is so right-it feels so much like a "home away from home" that we'd rather do our own tidy than worry about strangers traipsing thru. No one was more surprised at our attitude than we were.

I think Diane and Simba's Mom pretty much sum up the experiences of most DVCers. Not having daily service seems "odd" until you actually experience it. And now, I think most DVCers prefer the limited housekeeping over having daily service.

During our most recent stay during Thanksgiving week this year, we asked for no mousekeeping during our week stay. We emptied our own trash and recycling, used the vacuum, washed and dried towels when we did laundry in the villa, etc. I am thinking when we have at least a one bedroom, we will request no mousekeeping in the future again, as we liked it this way. When it's just DH and myself in a studio, we do like having the towel change though.

I guess I will be the lone dissenter and say we often request at least one extra trash and towel service during a stay depending on length of trip.

We usually don't pay for additional housekeeping but I must say the cost of trash and towel borders on criminal - $25?? No way to justify this, the labor is minimal and it's not like they are paying extra staff to accommodate these requests , these towels are about the worst industrial quality that anyone could imagine to boot

We tend to do split stays of four nights each so we get mouse keeping every four nights

This was our experience as well. If you need something you are not cut off. Our first night last year our 2 year old threw up in bed. Simple call to mouse keeping and we had new sheets. You might be surprised err on the side of. Or spending the money.

They used to charge $10 no matter the unit size. IF you approach it to avoid paying for towel packs and the like it can be reasonable but I agree that it's not for most situations.

Yep. Exactly.

Add us to the list of those who prefer the lack of housekeeping with DVC stays.

Good Grief! This is my third attempt to respond to this post. LOL, each post gets more condensed, if this one makes it...Wow!

We (dh and I) usually get a 1 bedroom villa because I stay up late, he gets up early (4am) and we work half days, so we have laptops and a printer set up. Needless to say, we don't want or need housekeeping, we wash towels as needed, keep our room neat, empty trash, etc.

That said, we do leave $10 at the end of our stay for housekeeping because we just like too.
