I have done the dining plan before... but we are planning to stay at CSR... is the food court choices similar to others and do they have a bakery to select desserts from on the dining plan. Any experiences advice welcome!

Pepper Market is probably the best Counter Service around. They have a variety of food stations, so you can get anything from Tacos to Steaks.

There are some restrictions on desserts. IIRC you are limited to cookies, brownies and stuff like that.

Unlike other counter service places, PM charges a 10% service fee, but is still a good bargain for the DDP.

For advice, if they are busy, keep track of your food as they are cooking it and stay visible. They don't give you a number or anything, so if someone behind you in line orders the same thing as you, they might get your food and you'll have to wait.

Do you have to pay the 10% fee if you are on the dining plan?

I very strongly disagree. Some of the items are okay, but more choices does not mean better tasting.

We are staying at CSR in June and will not be eating in the Pepper Market at all.

Are the restaurants at CSR back on the Dining plan? I had heard they had opted out this year along with several others at other parks...of course that was back in late November

The food was OK but the dessert choices at the bakery were extremely limited. We were a group of adults so we just payed OOP for a few we wanted to try. But, I definitely think it would be not worth it for my family as all 4 of my kids would want one of the yummy desserts not included and I would be paying a lot OOP. It was funny that when we went they had all these lovely desserts on display but only 2 choices if on the plan. We enjoyed POR foodcourt much better.:)

I've read a few posts where people were able to get any of the desserts on the plan. I've also read a few that they were limited.

I've read a few posts where people on the plan did not pay the 10% fee. I've read some where they had to pay the fee.

So who knows??? We'll see when we get there.

We've done the DDP three times in 2007 and 2008 at CSR, never charged the 10% fee at PM. All but the first time we could choose any bakery item as a dessert but were limited to lower priced items if getting them for snack credits. I assume for 2009 they are further limiting the snack credits, but even the Disney owned locations in the parks have done that.

We were there at the end of August - beginning of September and did not have to pay a 10% fee on the plan. The dessert choices were limited (as a portion of our meal) to the simpler desserts, but it was still good.

I liked the Pepper Market and you can go to all of the stations and look at the food before you choose what to order, and they will work with you to try to make it the way you like it as much as possible. :)

Same here. I wanted an American cheese omelet and they didn't have American cheese at the station but the cook went and got it for me. We did not pay the 10% on the plan either, but some have said they did. Buzz is going in less than 30 days--perhaps he can find out for sure. The portions are so big at Pepper Market that I never have room for dessert anyway--I usually get a cookie and have it for a snack later.

we were there sept 08 too and we never paid tip either.
i believe pm is one of best cs, we were stayin at cbr
and made many trips to coronado springs just to eat.

fajitas are amazin

How does breakfast work there on the DxDP? What constitutes an appetizer or dessert at breakfast?

Can I get
Hash Browns for an appetizer
An omelet for my entre
and an extra english muffin for dessert?

I'm not sure as we've never done deluxe plan. I know they don't have hash browns, they have breakfast potatos. I had an omelete for my counter service meal. Buzz had heard that they were thinking of changing to a buffet along the lines of Boma and I just read on one of the other threads that one of the workers there confirmed it to recent guests that at some point they are going to turn it over to a buffet. But until I actually see it happening I won't believe it. Pepper Market was rumored to not be going on the dining plan this year and that didn't pan out. :)

Last Jan we ate at Pepper Market a couple of times and didn't pay the 10% fee. I thought the selections for dessert were great. Much bigger selections than a lot of other places.

I have a friend that just got back from WDW and mentioned that Pepper Market took the steak off of the dining plan. Too bad as it was the best value anywhere for a counter service meal. She also said the calzones were taken off also but I don't know why as they are not very expensive compared to the other things there.

Since it is a CS location you do not get an appetizer with it. You get an entree or a combo meal, a juice (no dessert at breakfast) and a beverage.

The steak is on--but only at dinner.
