Ok, I posted this Sunday but it seems to have disappeared. I have two questions on the Pepper Market at CSR and the DDP. I stayed here once before but that was pre-DDP days.

1) Is there a place to refill your mugs outside of the Pepper Market?

2) How does the surcharge work? Do they give you a receipt when you check out with the amount? Can you pay this with room charge, cash, credit or all of the above?

1) The drink fountains are actually inside Cafe Rix, which is right down the hall from the Pepper Market.

2) I don't have experience with this (didn't do Pepper Market last year), but I would guess that just like other similar charges, all those methods of payment are acceptable.

I got lucky with the surcharge or something has changed. When I was there in December, we ate at Pepper Market for one breakfast and two dinners. We paid out of pocket once and used the dining plan twice. I was never charged the surcharge.

We used the DxDP last year at Peppers and were not charged the surcharge. I'm not sure what the deal is with that but it really seems to be a hit or miss policy.

The menu clearly states (and there is a sign at the entrance too) that the tip is not included in the dining plans. We just tip the server in cash what we feel is appropriate and hand it to him/her. Have been asked at the register when checking out if we'd like to charge a tip to the room, but it has never been mandatory. We tell them we've already tipped. Some cashiers don't even ask.

I can answer both of your questions

1) Mugs can be refilled at two spots, the Pepper Market and the Cafe Rix. At the Cafe Rix they have self-serve fountains serving Coca-Cola, Cherry Coke, Barq’s Root Beer, Fanta, Nestea, Sprite and Diet Coke as well as coffee and tea. At the Pepper Market you can have your mugs filled in two ways. You can go to the bar where they will fill with coffee, tea or Coke, or you can get your waiter/waitress to fill it and they have a much wider selection of drinks.

So if you were dining at the PM, you could get any soda or hot drink you wanted in your mug.

2) I believe that I have definitive information on the surcharge. To be clear, they don't include the 10% service charge with the Dining plan. however this is where it becomes more difficult, and it's all their fault. The average person, like yourself, would expect that the receipt would include the 10% service charge which you could then charge to your room etc, however this is not what they do. Instead they tell you nothing, but the waiters/waitresses are expecting you to give them a tip personally. We dined there on three occasions and only on the last occasion the waitress was quite forward and pointed out quite clearly to us that the tip was not included and she was expecting us to give her something. We left a little less than 10% in cash on the table. This is a bad method because you have no receipt with you to find out what 10% is, so you really have to remember what each dish of yours cost or you just need to make a rough calculation! I wish they could just include the service charge on the bill at the end for ALL customers. This is the only complaint I have about the Pepper Market.

I hope I answered your questions. If you check out this link I have a slightly better explanation of the tipping thing http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=40008039#post40008039

If you need more info please message me!

Thank you, that answered the question. It would be easier if the amount would show up on the receipt otherwise it sounds like a guessing game. Last trip we stayed at POR but there were 11 of us and the receipts always told us what the minimum amount should be - I actually liked it that way. I will make sure I have cash to leave at the tables because I've never been one to stiff a waiter/waitress.
